I replaced my rear rotors right after I got the car so it would pass inspection. The front rotors aren't cut at all and there's still quite a bit of pad left. There is definitely something wrong with the bushings in the front calipers though. Whoever last pulled the calipers apart didn't lubricate them when putting them back on and the rubber bushings were shredded. Of course, those bushings weren't even supposed to come out in the first place, so I may need new calipers (I'm driving without the bushing in the right front caliper, but the thumping is no worse than before). And of course, these are really weird Buick calipers that come apart and detach in strange ways with special headed bolts, so new ones aren't cheap and may or may not fix the problem.
bushings?  You mean the slide kits?  You ought to be able to replace those individually.

Also what are the symptoms of your engine?  Assuming it is a 3800 series II I might know exactly what's wrong with it.

It is the 3800. Doesn't wanna hold an idle at operating temperature. It can idle but usually needs help by way of manual engine activity (driving fast for a few minutes, holding a Rev at higher RPMs for a few minutes, etc). If it doesn't get that help or is left idling/off for too long, the revs will get so low that the engine just quits and dies.

I've already replaced the EGR valve, MAF sensor, IAC valve, and TPS. I've also cleaned and polished the throttle body, throttle plate, and the intake as far as I could reach into the engine.

might have something to do with the fuel delivery system ie low fuel pressure

clean out the injectors & check the fuel pump

do you ever have to add water/coolant?  Also, check the oil after running it and see if it looks milky.

Summer is frustrating for me. My engine is weaker than a geo metro when the AC is on but when its off i start burning up because TENNESSEE, not to mention that when i get in my car, i burn myself on everything that isnt cloth. I had to put a cloth cover on my steering wheel just so I could steer in the daytime. The A/C works great...except for when it smells of mold 3 minutes after you turn it on, even when the vent for outside air is open.

Also, anyone know of some cheap mods to make my car's engine peppier?

Yeah the injectors and fuel pump are my highest hunches right now. I already have a brand new fuel pump and I'm wondering if running some fuel cleaner through the engine will help with the injectors.

My car burns oil apparently because I have to add a quart every once in a while and there's never any sign of leakage. As for coolant, I had to put some new coolant in just once since having the car and never since then, so I think I'm fine.

Edit: Still watching that Crown Vic police car. Haven't gotten around to contacting its owner yet due to not enough time to meet up yet, but now that finals are over I shouldn't have an issue. He has just kicked the price down to $4500 OBO and it's looking very juicy now.

i would recommend getting it scanned for error codes at a dealer.  If it's a fuel system issue it should load a code that can tell you the exact problem.

I've had that done already. The codes it usually issues are for System Too Rich (Bank 1, pretty sure the fuel is lean) and Cylinder Misfire (4th cyl).

Have you had your A/C system cleaned lately? I mean, if it smells like mold then a cleaning is way overdue.

what do you drive again?

regardless, new spark plugs, checking/fixing air seals, and a new quality intake filter all help and are cheap

System Too Rich means it is injecting too much fuel.  That could be your problem.  Also replace your spark plugs, wires, and the coil pack for cylinder 4.

I drive a Toyota Yaris sedan. I'm thinking maybe a pulley for my first mod. Weight reduction isnt that practical because it's still my DD.
