Why does the guy on the left have (what appears to be) my avatar? I know I wasn't there.
Players are given random avatars at the beginning of each round, as well as random names and items/weapons.
Anyways, I found this very fun to play. The only problem other than things that are still being worked on would be the player limit. We had like 40 players at one point and the best strategy was to hide until half the players were dead. When there were about 12-16 people left, the actual game started instead of it just being a deathmatch. I think the limit should be around 20 and there should always be at least 2 admins present. Otherwise, as said before, it is a deathmatch for a portion of the game.
One thing that people didn't seem to understand was: when you can knock someone out or kill someone. I found that players generally kill the winner of a fight they witness or they just start shooting at whoever else is shooting. There are many problems that arise from this. For one, if you start shooting, other people will see you shooting and do the same thing. This is what causes a lot of deathmatches and random kills. This also causes innocent people to kill other innocent people. Unless it's an amazing strategy by the mafia to cause a deathmatch, innocent players are randomly taking out other innocent based solely on the fact that that person is shooting.
I've played a ton of Mafia Madness, which is similar to this gamemode. My rule is this: only kill someone based on what they do
after they kill someone. You could turn a corner and see someone shoot someone else to death, but you don't know if it was in self-defense or if it was an actual murder. I'd say, and I'm not lying, that over the course of the entire time of me playing this gamemode, 90% of my deaths were either getting killed for defending myself or from someone beating my unconscious body to death without knowing what I did.
A lot of the time, I would knock someone out in defense and then start typing to explain why I did it, only to be immediately knocked out by the first few people on the scene. And even worse, they would beat my body to death and revive the mafia I was defending myself against. And it's not a fellow mafia doing this, I've seen an entire group of people do this right out in the open. People assume that whoever won the battle was mafia. So the innocent was beat to death and the mafia was revived and rewarded for drawing attention to a "mafia" (even though that person wasn't mafia).
One thing that I was becoming quite frustrated about while playing this was stupid innocents. Sometimes I would be knocked out and left unconscious by a mafia member somewhere in the back of the map. Most of the players are gathered near the middle while I am lying unconscious behind the scenes. Then, a random player would come along and find me. They would loot me, beat me to death, and walk away. Half the time that I checked the player or players that did it, they were innocent.
To sum that all up, players need to think before they knock someone out or kill someone. See what a player does AFTER they kill someone. Use common sense.
