I think, actually, what they want is those rights...

I've used this as an example millions of times, but if I wanted to marry my boyfriend, I couldn't do so without moving to another state, and for that matter, if someone killed me just because I was gay, that would be treated in court as a valid reason since it isn't considered a hate crime here

Pretentiousness is found in almost everyone.  They've yet to achieve the entirety of the rights they desire, and, as stupid as those may be, them not being given them is just as ridiculous.  If marriage weren't a legal issue, then it'd be fine.  But it is a legal issue, and so they should be given the right to abide by this law.
