Author Topic: Am I the only one pissed off about FTL?  (Read 3564 times)

Yeah so I would have preferred them to start working on borderlands 3, Or something different. I don't really stick with games long enough for dlc to matter to me.
fun fact: BL3 won't be released until 2015+ because they're working on other IP's. so they wanted to produce as much DLC post-production as possible to keep players satisfied with the game.

can't you just download a c++ compiler and some libraries and start making a game? how does that cost money?
ides worth a damn cost money, places to live cost money, meals.  The devs don't live in their parent's basement.  They're adults.

I would still play Blockland at 1.0, it was a good game, Badspot updating it made it even better, he didn't have to do it, but the community appreciates it.  TF2 also didn't really need content updates, in fact, it pretty much invented giant free content updates within games that aren't mmos.

The FTL guys didn't promise these updates, so don't see why you're whining because you don't have them.

Binding of Isaac, Skyrim, Grand Theft Auto IV, Fable 3, ect.
Did fable 3 get dlc? It all seems to be outfits? :s

Ah so it did, Kinda handy since in fable I'm just sitting around waiting for money to pour in for the best ending.

Original ideas don't cost money. Ideas only cost money when you pay other people for their ideas.

What if, like hypothetically, instead of masturbating to hatsune miku rule 34, the devs used 30 minutes of that time every other day to work on a content update for the game?

It got like two islands I think.

IDEs, like visual studio you loving dolt.

DLC's are a an excuse to withhold features and sell them to you.

Stop comparing games with eachother like that.
If one guy jumps off the roof, not every other guy needs to do the same.
Sure, it would've been great for the buyers if the FTL developers added more, but they did what they said they would do.
People donated money to get stuff and to make it happen at all.
They got the stuff they promised, end of the deal.
Everything beyond that point is basically charity.
Do you think people would still be playing TF2 if they never updated it past version 1.0?
TF2 is different.
Really.
TF2 started of as a one time payment game and really was (and still is!) some sort of experiment for Valve.
Then they added the in-game store and well that seemed to be a succes so they made the game F2P.

And yes, actually, i think that TF2 would still be played if they never updated it.
However, since they do actually add content on  a regular basis there are more players then there would be in the situation where they didn't update past 1.0.
Adding content helps bumping the activity on the game.
But not everyone has the creativity or the buffer for experimentation like Valve's TF2.

Really, they gave what they promised, why do you think you deserve more?
They gave what they promised, end of deal, really.
The fact that other developers do so differently isn't a reason why they should do the same.
It would help them sell more perhaps yeah, but it may also not be in their interests to do so or something.

There can be a lot of reasons why they decide not to give more then they promised.
But they did what they promised.
The fact that they got more money from the kickstarter then they needed doesn't give you the right to expect more.
This is also because people who funded got a copy of the game.
So the kickstarter was also partially selling the game, those who kickstarted didn't need to buy the game on Steam or wherever.
Damn I didn't even know they got this much out of it, the games great but clearly there is not $200k worth of content.
Is Battlefield 4 or COD: Ghosts worth millions worth of content?
Plus a part of the sales?
Do you even watch the costs of creating the game before you purchase one?

Seriously, stop being a spoiled brat, there are tons of reasons why you don't deserve more content.
The fact that you would like it is understandable, but the fact that other developers treat their customers like obese princesses doesn't mean they have to.
They did what they promised within the time they promised.
The fact that they did that is already an achievement worth mentioning when you so need to compare them with other developers nowadays.

They made a game you and i enjoyed.
We liked it and would love to have more for the price because we are consumers and we would love to consume whole universes for the price of a crumble.
But in the end, they delivered as promised and thus you are not entitled to more content.

I'm glad Harm will get to share some of the hate I feel. q.q

the game is hard ; ;

but lots of fun

DLC's lately are just a shame to the title of DLC anyway.
DLC should add new content that changes the gameplay in a major way.
They also shouldn't be content that makes the basics of the game.

Things like map packs, character packs are one of the major shames of DLC because they are mostly so heavily overpriced that it isn't even funny.

IDEs, like visual studio you loving dolt.

Why wouldn't they just use the same software they used to make the game?

One thing I really want to know.
Is why you consider hitting the enter key so much.
Like seriously you do it after every sentence.
Are you making a post or writing a poem?
So god damn obnoxious.
I want to argue with you.
But I can't bring myself to read through that.
Try again.

Is Battlefield 4 or COD: Ghosts worth millions worth of content?
Do you even watch the costs of creating the game before you purchase one?
That's a handicapped example because Battlefield 4 and CoD: Ghosts weren't kickstarted and made all their funding from actual sales/investments.
Yes actually, and that has nothing to do with the money they made before the game was created compared to when it was actually being sold.
The fact that you would like it is understandable, but the fact that other developers treat their customers like obese princesses doesn't mean they have to.
There is thing thing called standards, it's that thing people strive to meet. People fund these indie games and give the developers more cash in hopes that the developer will use this money to make the game bigger/better. That is the point of a kickstarter, not to pay for someone's new house/car. That's what game sales are for.

The FTL kickstarter never said anything about adding new content, No stretch goals or anything. You were paying for a game to be finished and published, And that's what happened.

I would be happy that they made so much money for making a unique and fun game, Not crying because they didn't do something they never said they would.

They never said they wouldn't either. That's why I keep saying STANDARDS as in.. What should be expected from these games that people are generous enough to help fund. I see the main argument as they gave what they promised and that is all they have to do. That somehow anyone who funded this game and actually expected something is whinny and spoiled. But if you didn't noticed the people who funded this game.. are the one's who literally made it happen, so forgive them for being "a spoiled child" when they gave their hard earned cash to some gave developers expecting a bit more than what they got whenever the game dev's got more then they expected.

Also, you're being so aggressive it hurts. It's pretty much your fault nobody knew what you were saying when you didn't capitalize it.

Multiplayer in FTL could totally work
That's a good one, you almost got me.
