Both are $5.00 on Steam during the Halloween sale as far as I'm aware, and I have heard nothing but good from both. Thing is, my mom doesn't like spending more than $7.00 unless its a goddamn designer purse or gucci glasses idunno fukin whatever

Anyways, which, in your opinions, is worth buying over the other?

Added a poll for your answers, and you can post a reply for a more in-depth writing on why I should buy it. Thanks.

Get L4D2 if you have friends who aren't total douchebags.
L4D2 way more fun if you are playing with people you know.

It does indeed have co-op that forces you to work together, and vs. mode where everyone just pisses all over each other because that didn't get to be the tank. Then there is survival, basically just surviving as long as you can. Then Realism, stuff gets real there, and mutators, which change every once and a while. Also with the AI Director, there is a lot of replay value.
And let's not forget Steam Workshop support!

If you have no friends, or just not interested, then get Fallout. It's an amazing game. I have it.
(i don't have the dlc's because i'm a dunce and didn't buy them so i can't tell you much about the DLC)

Fallout 3 wont work on Win 7 or Win 8 unless you mod it up.

Sorry guys, meant to say Fallout New Vegas, fixed OP

Mostly nonlinear RPG or linear FPS. They're both great games, don't get me wrong, but they're majorly different so it's totally up to you. Fallout 3 has tons of content and even more mods that add a lot to the game. L4D2 is really fun, especially if you have friends to play with.

The main question is which would you rather sink a good amount of time into, an RPG or an FPS. Both offer you tons of stuff to do.

It's entirely up to you, and your preferences. I've spent over 50 hours on L4D2 and over 100 on Fallout:NV and they're both great games in my opinion. Left for Dead is more of a fast paced FPS, while Fallout is a huge open world. It depends on what kind of games you really enjoy, and even if you don't get one you should try the other at some time.

FO:NV is fun when you mod it all the way up if you want to refresh the game and make it a little harder than piss easy.

One question: If I liked games like Skyrim, but more modern like with Far Cry 3, will I like Fallout: NV?

forget yes. Also, play Old World Blues first. It's the best expansion.

Ultimate Edition includes all DLC's released.

Exactly. Play Old World Blues first (If you buy Fallout: New Vegas, that is).

Dude OWB was the worst DLC what the hell are you talking about..?

New Vegas is wonderful and you will love yourself for buying it.  Honest Hearts is kinda boring IMO but it's still pretty great.

I prefer Fallout 3 over NV
