Thanks for the tips, I wanted to start learning about this stuff and this seems like a great way to start.
Even the free version of unity can also be used commercially and is massively cross-platform, so if you actually end up with something cool you can distribute it on windows, windows phone / windows 8 store (however those 2 require windows 8), mac, linux, android, ios (however ios requires that you have a mac because apple), etc

If you make like 200,000$ off a unity game in a year don't you have to buy it?

That's what the license allows.

Because if you get $100,000 from your game you're obviously unable to buy a $1500 license, right?

Officially my favorite thread, inspired me to try GameMaker and it's going well.

Thank you to anyone who gave specific information game development.

Anybody with an interest in 3D game creation should definitely check out this site:

Tons and tons of really helpful information. Seriously, read as much as you can.

Looking for someone who knows how to make opressive, organ-like music.

I'm making a game that follows the path of a hero similar to Super Ghouls and Ghosts, but with more dimension.

If anyone knows how to make music like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Td2GntmcEJE

Or anyone know of software that does this, would be of great help. Thanks a lot guys.
I am able to do such things, but unfortunately I don't have the time to. :(

Making a game completely keyboard independent is way harder than I thought it would be. :/

Another problem, my character cannot keep upgrades from room to room. The upgrade variable was my bane.

Make the object "persistent" (There should be a checkbox) and it should keep its variables.

I'm a rogue coder looking for a game project. I prefer to work in C# but I'm quite flexible.

Let me know if anyone's interested.

Are you looking to join an existing project or something new?

do you mean rogue coder as in 'i have forget all to do' or are you saying 'i make roguelikes, let's make a roguelike'

Either way.

I mean I have nothing to do (well besides this, which doesn't take up that much of my time.)

I think rather than tackling a big game, I'm going to start small first. I'll just make a continuation of my previous game. Hopefully I can find time between classes and work :((

I tried making a game in unity but its too difficult to navigate for me. I'll just use some old and wacky 3d engine like martis or some stuff
