Any game mechanic ideas?
Could include something fun with the hamsterwheel effect, but beyond that I have basically no decent ideas, so I can't see it going anywhere

Hamster wheel where you run to charge up energy to shoot lasers, create energy pulses, and run over aliens.

i second paint.net
i wanna try out aseprite though
i tried aseprite
its good but
i still like GIMP better
7.5/10

Yeah, GIMP is pretty much all you need to do anything.

i'm making a card game thing in python to maybe go along as a side-game type thing to a larger game later on

i thought it would be interesting to try out making a new kind of game that wouldn't necessarily need highly graphical presentation immediately

so here's some ramblings of an aspiring game designer.
So, quick anecdote. When I was a kid I loving loved this and because that song and my project are both things I hold dearly to myself, I felt like making the trailer have the song playing while it shows gameplay, and the gameplay actually corresponds to the lyrics:
"I will never be afraid again": Brief scene of a boss fight
"I will keep on fighting 'til the end": Character reaching the end of the level
"I can walk on water": Water level
"I can fly": Clip of a character falling
"I will keep on fighting": Character killing enemies
"'til I die": Character dying

Call it stupid if you want but it's something I really wanna try out. Also, if you manage to beat the game, you'll be able to try your best to emulate the trailer. You better have good reaction time.

Guys quick heads up: unreal engine 4 is now $19 per month for full commercial license and full source code (on github) with royalties lowered from 25% to 5%.

Quick heads up 2: cryengine is now $10 per month with no royalties.

wouldve been nice if you quoted a little bit of it
i'm going through his posts and yeah there's plenty he posted here yet without ever actually stating where it came from, never saying it was either his nor anyone elses, even when he was asked a question later about it. i'm kind of confused as to why he would do that.
