Still have to update it further, since there's a lot I haven't covered, but that should help a lot. Experience Loops are very important to learn.

I'll hopefully have a big update with how to do a High Vision document (which covers a Beat Sheet, Interface, Style etc) and how to think up and prototype new mechanics soon.

for a sidescroller I would animate it to the right first

for a top-down I would animate the down direction first

Thirdly, if it's direct top-down, as in the camera is so directly overhead so the sprites just rotate for different angles, facing right works best.  This way the image_angle variable translates directly to the direction the character's facing.

This was probably a really unnecessary point to add but what the hell.

Also, difference in FPS == difference in computer that was used to record, lol.
