Here's something i've been working on. It's part of my new project that i'm going to be putting time into now that i've found my niche. I'm making the beats and i'm not sure whether I want to add lyrics or not. anyways, here it is.

I've been working in FL for around 2 years and have a lot of scrapped projects some of you might be interested in picking up and finishing for yourself. They'll be completely yours. There may be missing files, however. Just soundfonts and samples. I can dig them up if you need them.

sounds really nice I'm digging that synth that plays ascending notes. pretty tune.

everybody post your most recent piece and I promise I will give friendly critique. NOW!!!

i struggle with writing parts for physical instruments beyond my skill level and then spending hours trying to record it because i keep getting string buzzes or something

I've always wanted to try and make music but a big issue I've had is that I've never had the resources to do so
I downloaded the fl studio demo to try out and I really like it but due to it being a demo I can't save projects, and at the same time, I don't want to pay so much for it either. (and no, I'm not pirating it or whatever else).
I mean, I might just give in and buy it anyway (or buy some earlier version???) but does anyone else know any alternatives? or something?? all I want to do is experiment and see what I can do but without the ability to save projects I can't really do much

If you want to experiment without purchasing software, I would suggest REAPER. It's no FL Studio and doesn't come with any instruments installed (you'll have to find your own free VSTs), but it has an unlimited trial period with no restrictions. It definitely aims toward being more for recording physical instrumentation, but it works just as any other DAW at the base level.

yeah I have this but I'd need instuments to go with it, since all reaper offers is some simple samplers and tone generation
reaper seems a bit limited

This guy moaned at least this  l  o  u  d.

very good mixing on those guitars. The reverb adds a nice quality to them. also, the vocal samples add such great mood to the piece. very refreshing to hear this when so much metal is neutered pop hiding behind distortion and chugging guitars. your guitar playing is menacing and the percussion is appropriately intimidating.

Do you play an instrument? If you do, just use audacity for now. If you don't, download some free VSTs for FL studio and record your tracks using edison or audacity somehow. play the music through a mic and record that with audacity if you need to. obviously you will have a difficult time making music if you're just using demos with bad digital synths. don't hold yourself back by thinking "oh I need this DAW to make music, oh I need this VST to make music." you're only limiting yourself that way.

also, since you seem to be inexperienced, just pirate the damn thing. figure it out and learn if it's for you. if you like it and use it a lot you can buy it down the road. there's really no reason to drop a couple hundred bucks on it when you're not really sure how intuitive it will be in the end.

Reverb's new SYNC store has some really nice free VST instruments and plugins.

Holy stuff thank you, this is such a nice consolidation of software.

Thank you, a lot of my inspiration comes from bands that really deviate from the "metal norm"

As I said, just find some free ones and install them... The DAW is just there to help you assemble it all. The plugins do the brunt of the work. Holds true for any DAW, really.

I did a short orchestral mockup of 'Far Horizons' from the elder scrolls
