Author Topic: Looking for some good RTS's like Civilization V or Rise of Nations  (Read 1307 times)

So recently i've grown a liking to RTS's that are like games where you can build up your own empire and conquer others and engage in RTS battles.

However, one of the types I don't like are ones with wizardy magic stuff

Age of Empire and the Empire Earth series, except they're both basically in retirement now, still fun games.

I have Age of Empires and like it.

I haven't tried the Empire Earth series however.

Also I added to poll what I don't like.

Empire Earth looks pretty interesting. Which one is best?

the campaign map aspect of the total war games is fun

rome 2 is quite good, although i get really stuffty performance on it right now because they're still catching up on bug fixing and optimization

As far as i remember they're both pretty fantastic.
Used to play them all the time as a kid, and even recently with my bro on lan.
Also as pointed out by Dicey, Total War series is worth looking into.

i liked total war, mostly because i could pick up where i left off on the campaign anytime i wanted. its challenging and fun, the battles are p cool as well

I'm pretty sure that Rise of Nations was a pure Real Time Strategy. There wasn't a turn system in it.

I like Age of Empires, particularly Age of Empires Online, but you can no longer create new accounts and play as a new member anymore. And while the game is still up it will shut down permanently in summer 2014, when GamesForWindowsLive shuts down.

The world conquer campaign system was turn based but it relied on RTS battles to get stuff done.

as far as RTS goes W:ALB is great. If you want something like civ endless space is great if you get the disharmony DLC as well.
