"RTS's like Civilization"

FSHSHSFFFFSSHSHSHSHSSSH
iirc Rise of Nations is also turn-based, aka Turn Based Strategy, aka not Real Time Strategy.

the campaign map aspect of the total war games is fun
Rise of Nation was all pure Real-Time-Strategy except for the conquer-campaign maps, and when I say "like" i'm talking about an empire-building RTS, i'm not saying Civilization V IS real-time-strategy.

Oh, and I have played the Total War series' grand campaign, but only on Empire and I like it.

Ooooh, Planetary Annihilation looks pretty interesting to.

Rise of Nations Thrones and Patriots is pretty awesome, but it gets pretty boring if you don't play online

I would play online but both discs got scratched to hell for reasons yet unknown to me :(

Command&Conquer is one of my favourites but its not really an empire building one.

WAIT OH MY GOD THE THRONES AND PATRIOTS DISK/DISC STILL WORKS

anyways go on

C&C was an amazing series until EA showed up.

Anyway I can definitely vouch for the original Empire Earth game. Its an amazing RTS. one of the downsides is that the graphics look like Blocklands Maps before they were removed. If you decide to get the original Empire Earth, make sure you get the Art of Conquest Expansion. Includes a new epoch (Space Age) in which planets are available, and space ships are introduced, thus bring up the number of Epochs to 15.

Plus in both games, theres a built in scenario editor so you can create your own maps to play on. And if you can figure out how, and if you can get creative enough, you can create your own campaigns to use.

Heres a good video to show you what the game is like.

Does Empire Earth have a singleplayer quick-battle like gamemode? Like in Rise of Nations where you build up your empire and so does the AI

Age of Empires: Dawn of the Modern World has an empire builder mode for skirmish games.

Yep. Just select the random map option and select the type of map you want, and some other things and you are good to go.

Also, Since Sierra (The Developer) took down the online Servers for multiplayer, a few years ago, Online Multiplayer is a bust. LAN Servers are still usable though.
