couldn't you say that about any console then?
and if you dont have a PC because you use consoles like the xbox and playstation, then getting the steambox will probably be cheaper but allow you to play those same steam games.
It's fair enough for a new console, but I don't get the point in why a PC user with a Steam Library would really want to splash out on the console if it's just going to be used as another PC. Unless upgrading your PC to be capable of playing games is much more expensive than getting the console.
The Steambox is supposed to link your Steam Library too, right?
The benefit there is that you don't have to buy your games twice, but it raises the point again of why bother playing it on the Steambox rather than the PC.
And just because it can be linked to a big TV is irrelevant, since Steam's Big Picture lets you do that from your PC.
I suppose one benefit atleast, which PC's don't normally benefit from but Consoles do, is that it's much easier to carry to a friends house and plug in and play.
I like the Steambox, but I don't get the point of buying it and then plugging in a keyboard and mouse.
For me atleast, part of the charm of console gaming is using their controllers. They might not have all the fancy hotkeys that keyboards have, but it's got it's own charms. Touch-sensitive buttons and vibration feedback among them, plus cosy ergonomic designs.
And with some console controllers you get the uniqueness of using non-traditional controllers, like Wiimotes, Kinect and PlayStation stick things (sorry, I don't know what they're called).
