One that doesn't instantly open, and behaves realistically in the air.

It won't behave properly with air physics because BL doesn't have air physics.

Animations could be used to replicate the look of air through the parachute.

Playertype may have to be modified better so it not only has high mass and drag, but more air control and less runForce.

Oh, also I think you shouldn't be able to walk around with your parachute open, that's just weird.

If you open parachute in a vehicle you are automatically thrown out of it?

You would have to do a lot of animations for the parachute to look 'real', as well as a lot of extra code to make the parachute not go through crap like the old one.

No, but the vehicle slows down and can fly for longer.
