Author Topic: How to get a refund?  (Read 2293 times)

Anyone else having trouble getting a refund through steam?
I've tried for so many crappy games I've mistakenly bought and then realised they're dumb.
The latest one, Arma 3.
I especially regret it now Day Z standalone is out.
I just sent an email to sales@bistudio.com, the developers of Arma 3, awaiting a reply.
The last time I tried to get a refund, Kinetic Void... Steam told me to talk to the developers, the developers told me to talk to steam, and so on, until I gave up and let my precious £15 slide :'(
If anyone has any tips for dealing with refunds, please tell me. So far I've read up that steam only give you a refund through their system if you've only had the game for 15 minutes.. but I've only played 5 minutes of Arma 3 to realise its stuff. Bought it a few weeks ago.
Any serious advice will be great.

I could've sworn Steam said that they don't give refunds and all purchases are final?

Take the time to research games to be sure you'll like em. Then you won't need to bother steam for anymore refunds.

I never knew steam offered refunds :o

i think "only had the game for 15 minutes" means the possession of the game

You don't get a refund

Oh no you spent money and were unhappy about it! Tell me how you deserve special treatment from the millions of other people that would like a refund (but can't get one).

steam does not know what a refund is
but that's okay because i look at reviews on games before i buy them.
i suggest you should too.

that's why
arma III (or any arma game for that matter) isn't a game you can just jump into and expect it to be the coolest and most fun game ever

Steam does not owe you a refund.
You should be more careful and make sure you actually like the game you're going to get.

I've only managed a refund once.
and that was only because of an accidental dual purchase.

Really?
You expect them to refund a game you didn't like after all?
Games which are not broken or don't break promises they made on their store page?
Games that have done nothing wrong but to not entertain you enough?

Seriously, you bought it without thinking about it.
It would be like buying a fridge and then coming back and trying to get your money back because you don't like it's color anymore.
I am terrible at metaphors, but you know, it's just silly.

I get its not in the contract to give me a refund, but I was asking if anyone knows a way to easily get one?
They don't owe me a refund, but maybe if I push the dev's they can sort me out one?

i recommend down staircases

pretty sure Steam will give you one refund if you give them a good reason. but you have to contact support and it takes forever. this might depend on the game, too. you might be forgeted.

Unless if you're European you'll find it very hard to get a refund.

Oh you are, In which case you have 7 days in which the law says you can get a refund.
