highest I've ever been is master guardian I (current rank) and I've always hovered around gold nova master.
I've only ever played on occasion with other people up until now so I never bothered getting any higher and I don't know if I actually should be any higher.

curious as to how inflated ranks are now that the game is closer to Dota 2 in terms of players, though.

I never understood how one deranks, I am always to worst of my team and I believe I lost more matches than I won.
Yet I never deranked.

Rank actually isn't determined by match wins, but round wins

So it's entirely possible to still rank up from a 14-16 loss, or a 15-15 tie.

Especially if you lose with a bot. You lose less Elo if you have a bot on your team. You also gain more.
