Author Topic: Internet Neutrality laws are gone, ISPs can now block websites.  (Read 6138 times)

The internet is a massive entity that can be accessed anywhere by anyone. It can be controlled by a single group because of how vast it is. It is like the ocean, you might have claims to a certain part of the ocean. However it is impossible to dominate all of it. The ISPs should only control the ability to access the web and nothing more. Giving the power to block certain things would be like Fed EX denying Singapore shipping access to ocean and other ports just because they are the sole shipping company in the area.
expanding on the brown townogy:  FedEx denying shipping to singapore is negative to everyone involved because of the way the global economy involves everyone (just like the internet involves everyone), except FedEx (the ISP) who still makes money anyway.

you all voted for him
Pretty sure barely a fraction of forumers are old enough to vote lol.

god loving dammit government come on

People are oversimplifying this. If internet companies decide to go ahead and throttle selected websites, then they'll do it all together. There will be no other option but to deal with the throttling. The internet is forgeted.

Well, look at the bright side. They can also throttle scam and malware sites.

Counting how many days before anonymous ddoses a government website.

if they actually start slowing down and blocking websites, I bet Google would open up an internet service or something.
They already have a free DNS service, it's plausible with a little effort on their side.

forget forget fcuk, no mnore pirate bay for me

I'm like 99% sure this is bannable

The internet is forgeted.

except for the part where a new business is introduced to combat the problems of the last ones and will make tons of cash from all the people switching. Personally, I think you're the one over simplifying.

Google Fiber already exists.

0/10 will never use

they probably collect every bit of your data to get ad revenue

they are so small it could just as easily be a breastplate

not everyone has milk giants like u

Keep in mind this also allows ISP's to differentiate networks (and lower congestion) via separate restricted network lines, and possibly lower user-end cost by placing allowing websites to partially cover the cost of the connection. If ISP's pull any shady crap, they are bound to lose customers. Besides, the neutrality laws were made on a weak legal basis with poor justification.
