My Western Civilization teacher does class differently than you might imagine, we don't take anything to class, literally nothing.  We get chrome books, then we start doing class with them, I don't have to write out notes, I type them, I love this because I don't have to worry about taking stuff home, and I can log on to Google drive and I do my homework there.  I love doing it this way, and I wish more teachers, or even school districts would.

My only issue with this is that some kids don't have internet access, or even a computer.

I get computers in Earth Science almost every day.  Got to use them in government today too.  All of them are Dell laptops though.

I got a Dell laptop, it isnt that bad
Anyway our class allows us to bring in our iPods so that we could use any educational applications like a calculator on it. We also have a 10 minute preperation period where you could bust out your mp3 player or ipod and listen to music, chat, or browse the web using my schools wifi. Its pretty neat, but we arent allowed to bring in any computers.

This is essentially most colleges.  Paper is a thing of the past to most schools as they can save more money doing things electronically and submitting them that way.  My college requires EVERY student to have an iPad, if you don't your SOL.

My only issue is the stupid ID database system.  In order to log into the computers, I need my username to be my lunch number/Student ID and my password is my first name inital, last name initial, and my birthdate.  Somehow I'm not in the database though, so I have to keep borrowing off other people.

In 2013 at my high school, they began to allow us to use our cell phones whenever we wanted, except when any teacher says to put it away, which is 7% of the time.  So I pretty well every teacher allows us to use our phones to research stuff during class, it's pretty cool, except some cunt lord's abuse the privilege.

I go to a public high school, in 2011 my school district got funded money so they spent it on iPads, so, every middle school student has their very own iPad.

Not to mention note taking is much easier (for me at least) on something like a windows surface. The ability to change colors without needing more writing utensils coupled with the fact that I type much, much faster than I could ever write is definitely a game changer.

Any of you guys with laptops use Microsoft Onenote? Its pretty handy

Uh, we are way ahead lol.

We have had laptops for multiple years now, meaning that everyone has laptops.
Everyone. I think it's 6th-10th grade where everyone gets their laptops.

Our whole school is integrated into Google, although, don't be silly because writing does still happen.

Pshh that stuff is sooooo last year

everyone has to have a mac in my school

If it is mandatory to have an ipad/laptop in school then the school should be ale to supply them to students who cannot afford them.

At my college we write stuff down on paper.

Pretty sure they aren't talking about local public schools, just universities, and such.  If so, then that's pretty loving stupid if they don't help supply technology if required.

Can't you bring in a laptop and type notes? or do they not allow it? I'll be going to a university in 2015 and they allow it.
