Author Topic: Help me, o computer masters  (Read 1132 times)

When I try to boot Windows 8 from grub, I get "unknown command 'drivemap'. invalid efi file path". It's on an ASUS laptop with an Aptios Setup Utility BIOS, x64. Here's a boot report I did with Boot Repair. http://paste.ubuntu.com/6869998/ The distro is Ubuntu 12.04.

Thanks!

It's simple, really.

Don't use Ubuntu.

install windows 7

For shame

Bro, I'm not a big fan Windows 8 and Windows 7.

But he's trying to integrate something into another something of sorts that wasn't designed to accept that other something.

Therefore, the simple answer is to stop doing that, or in other words, not use Ubuntu.

jesus christ, this is just like the windows 8 bandwagon, stop being lazy pricks and actually try to be useful.

If you use UEFI, you can't use grub afaik, you have to use some other loader.

Windows 7 is best, Windows 8 is okay with classic shell installed.

Windows 8 is okay with classic shell installed.
i find it fine without it even
although its still a bit odd

iirc you can disable it, but its for some motherboards, OP can upgrade to 13.10 that has uefi support or get the grub alternative.

thats the point of grub, dont speak when you dont know what you're talking about

OP either use 13.10 or use the LILO bootloader

the archwiki has some pages regarding a seperate partition to EFI boot with grub, but i cant find it. sorry

apparently win. 8 is faster then win. 7 because of a new kernel, okay i guess win. 8 is for me.
