well why the forget wouldn't I be?
electro- it's the wifi! they're using it to control our minds!

If a guy came door to door in the night while driving a white van, I'd be a bit suspicious too.

i'm saying this because this is not a normal thing that people do.
it's at night
it's a van
it's a person lightly knocking
how would you react?

open the door?
not do anything?
look through something to see who it is?

I... wouldn't answer it?

But at the same time I wouldn't rush for the nearest blunt object

i'd turn on the light and see who it is; they are lightly knocking so thats a small sign they are probably polite. if i dont recognize them, check what they are wearing. if they look shady/sketchy, dont open the door. and just wait until they leave.

from electros vague description of the situation it makes it seem like he just saw a person at the door and freaked out without really stopping for a little while to think about it before he did something as far as to call the police. in other words, his quick and detail-lacking description makes his actions seem based in paranoia.

someone mentioned something earlier in the topic and he may have been casing the homes for potential robberies
so it was actually a good idea to call the cops
electro did it for the wrong reason, but still

Everything on OP is exactly what happened. Here, I'll list the events from the beginning.

1. Light knock on door, dog has ears up and stares at the door
2. Wait for them to go away from the door and sneak a peek through blinds, quickly grabs bat just in case
3. See red passenger van
4. hyperventilate, calm down, and look out blinds again
5. van is going house to house
6. only comes to door on few houses
7. call cops
8. ???

if you turned on a light they'd know you were home and they probably wouldn't leave

I'm leaving all my lights on so they know I'm here. I'm going to be up all loving night now.

so did you even see who was at the door? or what they looked like?

in that case u just call the cops. also a big fyi, criminals do not like to be caught. if i turned on the lights he would most likely leave almost immediately if he was a burglar. have you heard of the act of keeping on one light in the house while you go on vacations? its a common practice most homeowners use to help ward off potential burglars; it give the illusion that people are home.

All I seen was a heavy coat and a toboggan.

okay so if he opens the door what are you going to do? nervously swing the bat at him? From what you've said in threads past you have alluded to the idea that you're the polar opposite of physically fit and you think your autism is mysterious. Honestly, normal people aren't freaked the forget out about everything to the point where they have to tell everyone every time a minor problem arises.

honestly, what the forget are a bunch of random people going to do except provide advice? The guy is already gone and the situation resolved itself, you just freak the forget out about everything and honestly it's hilarious.

Too bad he called the cops
After all, that will only add to the death toll
