Author Topic: LugHost hosting -- Service shutting down (page 11)  (Read 16368 times)

Very nice Lugnut, I wish you good luck with this!

I'll be a "tester"!
I should be getting a new computer in a couple weeks, would love to buy a server from you.

EDIT:
Hopefully I'll have the computer by next week though, depends on how quickly my parts ship.
I'd like to buy the server now, but there's no use when I don't have a reliable computer.
You have my full support, Lugnut!

This sounds like a cool idea.
If I could, I would buy one.

that 8 bucks is his age dude.
he would have to gather his months allowance to afford that

I need to learn some VPS stuff from you dude.

Good luck.

Alright, got payments for 3/4 servers, I can buy the VPS if I supplement with my own cash a little bit. I did so, and now I'm waiting for processing.
I believe in you!
you better, you're buying one

How can we trust you with our key

How can we trust you with our key
Pretty much the honor system, to be honest. Basically just thinking - would I commit forum Self Delete on an account I have had for 5 years with a decent reputation just to steal somebodies key? What would I get? A little bit of impersonation time before eventually getting banned and deactivated.
The alternative to that is that I run an honest hosting service and get enough cold hard cash monthly to buy my own damn keys.

Basically, you can trust me to not steal your keys because it's significantly more profitable for me to be honest and not do so. I also don't feel like being the next forum douchenozzle, so there's that too.

Okay, so let me tell you a little story
day 1: I implement a method using psuedo-terminals in python to read stdout - previously impossible due to stdout buffering in C programs
"holy stuff, I revolutionized Blockland hosting under Linux!"
day 2: You post your thing
"god damnit, he went and made it even easier"

So yeah, you revolutionized Blockland hosting on Linux.
Yes, being able to release this fast and just do SSH instead of having to finalize creation of my wrapper program and management and nonsense like that is the reason why this thing is mostly ready to go.
Haha awesome.

Good luck!

Anyone can buy a VPS and setup a filezilla server.  There is literally no need to go through Lugnut to get those things.  This isn't even a 'quick and dirty' service, because that would imply you are offering at least something unique.   Right now it's just buying something and selling it for more without changing it at all.  Such a revolutionary 'service'!
