I spawned a pyro, did the stuff, checked generate root motion.
He just stands still. I guess I have to assign a path for him to walk? How would I do this?

Is it the sequence? The sequence has him run a set (pretty long) path that you can adjust. Or shorten, but I've got no clue how to shorten or lengthen sequences.

That doesn't quite help if he's trying to make the Pyro move, unless he's making a walking animation from scratch

When you apply a run animation to a model, there's usually sliders on the right side of the model selection window that controls the direction of movement, move a slider halfway or all the way to the right for movement to be applied, your model will then move forward until the end of the shot

You can make them turn by going to the motion editor in the timeline, selecting the time when you want them to turn and stay turned (so leave the end of the selection as going all the way through the shot), and make sure to set a falloff at the start of the selection so the Pyro will have a transition while turning

Then bring the playhead to the start of the selection (not the falloff, the greener green that signifies the actual selection), then select the rootTransform bone of the Pyro and rotate it in the direction you want the Pyro to turn

The results can be rather ugly, so you'll have to mess with the various procedural sliders to make the turn smoother, like In, Out, Steady, Hold or Release

ive wanted to use this ever since i got it, but the interface is just too unresponsive. im pretty sure i have the recommended specs, cept i have 32bit. would 64bit help maybe? im handicapped when it comes to computer hardware im sorry
what do you mean by unresponsive

is it just really laggy or..?

Ok-y, I'm back with a bit of experimenting.
I never re-tried the walking bit, but I have a question.
If I record myself walking 'round in the modified version of tf inside of SFM, can I manipulate the recording of myself?
For example, I record a segment as pyro where I walk from point A to point B, and then stop for a second before going to C.
Can I do some pose-to-pose animation on the model generated by the recording of gameplay, so that I can (for example) wave my hand when I reach (and stop at) point B?

yeah, like ill click on something and it'll take a minute or two (literally) before it does anything

ex: drop down menus. ill click on "file" and the actual menu takes forever to show up

I made another video, this time demonstrating pose to pose animation. I figured it out by watching this tutorial.

Any tips on how to make it smoother, overall?

smoothness can only be gained with practice

lots

and

lots

of practice

Does anyone know how to recreate an effect like this?

Probably by looking at the source files that Smellyfeetyouhave posted in the same topic as that picture

After experimenting with the SFM during a car ride for six hours (I'm in Mexico atm), I've come across with a few problems.
Initially, I made this. It looks pretty nice.
http://youtu.be/GwD5SeDzxHg (just like every video I upload, I link them before they finish processing so if you're an early bird it might take a minute)
So, my first problem was that I could not figure out how to manipulate the pyro that was created through recording gameplay (same pyro seen in the video). I tried going into the motion editor, the graph editor, selecting different things in the animation set editor, ect.
After I was forced to stop working on that project, I tried to do some ptp animation where the soldier pushes a pyro. I selected all of time, posed the two characters in their initial pose. I then moved the first selector thing (in the motion editor) to the right. Whenever I tried to move the soldier or the pyro, they would instantly rebound back to their original position. How would I get past this?

Is SFM easy to use? I'm thinking about getting into it. I love film making and stuff like that, and this looks really interesting.
