They still could've sent a distress call if it was a missile, that's not the investigation.

They stopped responding to ATC.

I'm guessing they lost both engines, thus losing battery power and went down without radios/being on radar.
if a passenger airplane loses all engines it still has alternate sources of energy for all crucial systems

It's still miniscule compared to engines though, correct?

It definitely couldn't get them home safely if they're over an ocean if that's what you mean.

Well of course. Yes, it can provide power for their instruments, but I was just checking if that was an accurate thing to say.

yes, but enough for the most important systems like communications and stuff

I meant like electricity not means of propulsion....

so much this

Actually it's common sense. Why would they not have backup sources of power for crucial systems?

Also it's not impossible to land a plane safely over water with 100% engine failure. It's been done before.

are you handicapped? I didnt get it from reddit, I have basic knowledge of aircraft but you're acting like we're all stupid and know absolutely nothing

Uh, excuse me? I've watched documentations on flight and flight disasters before, I didn't research it. It's not even that hard to figure out, if I'm not mistaken, they use a small generator.

do they fly planes through the same route to find out if it's anywhere close?

..the forget else would they do

he was just asking a simple question, I mean really?

some modern ones have like a little propeller pop out from the bottom, spins from the speed of the plane and generates energy

..the forget else would they do
they could be flying across the route, or in a net across the ocean, or using satellites

there can be a lot of answers

Oh yeah, I remember now that planes have that. Pretty cool technology if you ask me. Probably also keeps the planes flying a little bit longer as well.
