Author Topic: Why did some people find FEZ bad?  (Read 1375 times)

I don't see anything wrong with it, but, from what I know, something happened that caused the developer, Fish, to commit some sort of internet Self Delete (".neticide", as I call it) and quit gamedev. What exactly went down and why do people not like it?

He was a friend anyway, good thing he won't be getting anymore money.

Becuase it's a generic platformer with no challenge and stuffty brute force puzzles and gimmicky game mechanics that were done better 4 years ago. In a free flash game.

I thought that FEZ was extremely boring and simply stupid.

I found FEZ to be an interesting concept, but a bit lackluster in the "fun" department.

I played it for about an hour or so before I realized I wasn't enjoying the game as I should.

tbh i enjoyed the game itself but the dev was a douchestuff

The game was acceptable but Fish acts like an angsty teenager

i think it caters to a specific type of player
i absolutely god damn loved fez like holy stuff
but i'm the kind of guy that sits down with a notebook and records everything i witness in a puzzle game because i love solving it (which i did)
i still think phil's an starfish but a pretty good game came out of that starfish so whatever.

Fish wasn't really an starfish before, he seemed to go downhill during his FEZ days.
The game just seems too... bland and lackluster. It was a cool concept, though.

it was a good game, but Phil poisoned it. Had he been a good guy I'm sure most people would be saying positive things about it.

this flood of casual gamers recently has been pulling all the stuffty game devs out of the woodwork. trying to make money on college programming projects.

ugh

tbh i enjoyed the game itself but the dev was a douchestuff

yeah the developer was a total ass
he made himself look like one too during his documentary

yeah sure the dev was an ass but the game itsself is great

i didn't see anything wrong with the game or the dev in the movie.
