That's actually a really good optimization idea.

Yeah, on paper. Turns out not everybody has 40 gigs worth of space constantly available, and not everybody can get that installed just whenever they want.

hard drives are pretty cheap though

In the current era the GB value per $ has increased a lot over the past years so yes like Omnicron said, decent hard drives are pretty cheap. Chances are if you can't afford the extra 40GB, you probably can't afford Titanfall or a PC good enough for minimum gaming.
Also it's expected that the size of the game increases as new years come by. 40GB will be nothing for a game within a year or two. Call of Duty Ghosts is like what, 30GB for the PC?

There's still the point where downloading 40 gigs can potentially take ages.
Probably just me with limited resources to work with, though.

True, but this is why I'd like to CD, no download speeds, just raw disk reading. :3

Me to, disk will always be better than that forced drm that steam and origin are.

Not every Steam game has DRM :V

...just an overwhelming majority.

My download speeds are actually faster than the speed at which my computer reads a disk.

Well I mean steam in it self is kind of like drm. Very useful, but it has a few major flaws.
1. If you get your account hacked and the hacking decides to cheat, valve is not willing to unban you from vac because that is their policy. So basically if you want to play on a VAC secure server you are forced to buy a new account if you want to play on a vac server.

2. You don't really own the games you buy, just a license that can be revoked at anytime should the company feel the need to pull their game off steam. The other half of the issue being that if Valve go out of business, all those accounts are nulled. All those purchases wasted, gone, no games for you anymore.

3. No refunds(unless you live in Europe), no sharing with friends, basically everything is bound to your account for life

4. some singleplayer games require 24/7 internet access, even steam needs online mode for many games. Plus downloads are slow as forget unless you live in city that has fiber optics or has better bandwidth.

That's one slow ass disk drive.

6v6 multiplayer
"but it has bots!!!!!"

Do you want 20 titans on a single map at one time? They're too small for that. That would be loving ridiculous.

The multiplayer actually works really really well. If you haven't even tried it you shouldn't be talking stuff.

This so much.
Not every FPS out there needs to become a battlefield scaled thing.
Besides, the bots actually serve a purpose, they are cannon fodder, making it easier for the players to get their titans on the field.
They also give progress to certain objectives in some game modes, making bot hunting an actual useful thing while player hunting is also still benificial.
Really, if you haven't played it and just want to say it's Call of Duty with robots and it sucks for that reason, go ahead and never try it out.
At least we won't have to deal with such pessimists in that game.

I had my doubts to when i heard it was from the Call Of Duty creators and the such.
But when i saw some gameplay (and the mechs, i just love mechs most of the time), i figured it might not be such a bad game after all.
And after having played the beta, i now know that is a game that i definitely will play and invest quite some time in.
But if you think different, i don't mind, not at all.

Looks like cod with mechs like black light retribution and jet packs like Tribes.
