Author Topic: Sid Meier's Civilization 5(+) Megathread: GAMEPLAY!!!  (Read 27046 times)

I can already see someone making a Mass effect mod for the new civ.

So its Alpha Centauri 2?
stuff now I'm gonna have to choose between this and Galactic Civilizations 3.

Also, I'd strongly advise against getting your hopes up for a Star Wars/Star Trek/Mass Effect/whatever-ish game involving conquering entire planets and star systems (if you want a game like that try out galciv). While that might be what this game ends up being, this backstory is heavily reminiscent of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, in which humans built a huge ship (possibly that space station thing in the trailer that all the rockets were flying to) to flee an over-polluted, over-populated, generally stuffty Earth and find a home on a single new planet. On the trip there, the cryo functions forgeted up and split everyone into factions. Those will be your civs. I doubt it's going to be interstellar wars with space armadas and death stars, and instead you'll stay confined to Planet. And Planet might not like you.

This post might seem incredibly redundant but I just don't want to see idiots slamming the game when it releases because of their misguided hype.

not to mention the civilization dlc tradition

where the base game is terrible and the dlc rectifies the situation

from what i've read it sounds like you're going to be able to have outposts on multiple planets

early alpha footage

america wins again

i hope you can piss off some alien race and then proceed to go to war with them before you realize that the alien race is far more better than you with better technology
