Author Topic: Is minecraft worth it at all? - UPDATE: I got it  (Read 2009 times)

I like modpacks more than the original game nowadays. I'm playing FTB Monster right now and there are almost unlimited options. With friends the game can be fun for a year or so. I remember a friend and I would play faction servers with heavy PVP. T'was pretty fun.
^^^^ FTB is the way to go
there's literally thousands of hours of gameplay to be had in modded content. thousands.

tekkit classic will always be the best modpack

Not really imo, I got it when I was bored to play around with and it was pretty boring, at least for me.

After you beat the single player game once there's not much else to do other than play mini games on multiplayer which I don't find too fun.

I've sunk 1183 hours into over the past three and a half years... so yes very worth it

Thanks for all the input guys. I'm still a bit undecided about it, especially since I can't pull $26 dollars out of my hat at the moment but I'll consider all that you've said. I'm mainly just planning on getting it for survival, playing that on the Xbox was fun. Thanks again.

It depends on your computer and imagination. I don't have much patience to sit around and collect minerals in order to build, and I got the game in 2011 while it was $20 and regret it. I wish that I bought Blockland sooner with that money.

It is easily worth it, trust me.

It really is. But Blockland is still better

As for getting addicted I was for the first couple months after I got it

Okay so I got it, any good mods that I should get?

Play the vanilla game to death, then get the Technic Launcher. It comes with a bunch of modpacks pre-loaded, so you just select a pack and start it up. The technic pack is fun and tekkit is awesome if you play with cooperative people. The yogbox was also amazing, though it kind of removes the mine/build aspect of Minecraft and replaces it with a raid/fight focus. Still very excellent though.

People also rave about Feed the Beast, although this was unplayable for me so I dunno if it's all that great.

Play VANILLA first. Play it as long as you can until you get bored. THEN start adding mods such as Feed the Beast, but PLEASE try vanilla singleplayer for a while.

do vanilla survival singleplayer for as long as possible

STEP 1: play single player survival until you throw up
STEP 2: play multiplayer servers
STEP 3: play survival single player w/ new and interesting mods
STEP 4: repeat for years to come
