I didn't joke about people who were injured or possibly died.

No you joked about having someone killed

No you joked about having someone killed
Nobody was ACTUALLY killed or injured.

True

Most shooters seem to be kids though. And the harder it is for the younger to get their hands on a weapon the happier i feel. Maybe advanced firearm classes for adults should be mandatory to decrease irresponsibility as well.
It is already a crime for anyone to leave their firearms out in a place where children may gain easy access to them. A responsible gun owner locks his firearm up in a box, a bad one will hind them in a closet, on top a fridge, or in an unlocked drawer. A good safe is all you need and to educate your kids on firearm safety.

So schools are supposed be protected by a gun free zone while all guns, knives, and drugs are banned on school grounds. Yet we still have school shootings, the occasional stabbing, and stoners and junkies still hide in the bathrooms where they can get high.

Bans don't work, and if they do then the country reporting them is either lying or they have a large and effective police force. The North Hollywood shoot out where two robbers took out 400 cops in LA with just assault rifles was conducted under the old assault rifle ban.

The solution is neither arm everyone nor ban everything. I believe that look more into the cause of why these things happen. We need to think and ask ourselves why do people break down and decide to kill everyone? Is it bullying, drugs, metal illness, any of the above, ect? Fix the person, not take away the tool.

I never understand the logic behind the "bans don't work" argument. Sure, people get around bans a lot, but it is harder and maybe more expensive to obtain what is banned. And besides, you might as well be saying "Why have laws? People will break them anyways."

Because in the end you can stop everything bad from happening. Bad stuff will happen no matter what, and only law abiding citizens will follow the law. I take criminal justice courses in college, all my teachers are retired police officers. I want to be a police officer. The only thing you can do is try to detain all the law breakers.

...not really. You can mitigate it, but people are unpredictable sometimes.

Bad stuff will happen no matter what

That kind of contradicts your previous sentence, but whatever.

Okay, wait, so are you saying there SHOULD be bans?
After all, you can't catch the lawbreakers without laws to break in the first place.

Still, making something legal will make it easier to obtain and more people will do it. Bans can be avoided, but they help in a way.

Laws are essentially bans.
