What do you mean by lobbying for attention? If there is a social issue going on affecting a certain group, then they are entitled to speaking up. Many times, specific groups are targeted and/or bigoted more than others.
Have you ever noticed how often on the news you hear about some kid coming out in front of his classmates, or how some kid who was gay/lesbian is bullied for their loveual orientation, or how there is some law pertaining to gays that that might affect them negatively?
Have you also noticed the second most reported thing is how Israel's safety is threatened by its Arabic neighbors, or how some Palestinian terrorists bombed some jews on the Israeli side of the wall. Then in the united states you might here about those evil neo national socialists who painted swastikas all over a jewish cemetery.
Yet on the news you hear about the missionaries who are starving Africans right now unless they convert. Or how Native Americans live in poor conditions on reservations and how there remaining bits of land are being sold out to corporations. Or how bad the Israel's treat the Palestinians. Did you know that once the British gave up that land there were supposed to be two Countries Israel and Palestine?
