Author Topic: supreme court struck down affirmative action 6-2  (Read 34297 times)

This isn't about a world issue, though. This is exclusively in the United States, where white people are the majority. According to the US census from 2012, 78% of the U.S. is white alone.
~63% Non-hispanic white.

Doesn't matter who's the majority or minority. Education should be about academic performance.

forget the thousands of kids dying of hunger each day in Africa, 9/11 was far more significant!
forget yeah never forget bald eagle freedom guns mcDonalds.
That doesn't mean we shouldn't deal with the current social issues relevant to our country though. Sure theres more world out there, but we're talking about something more local.

Growing up hearing how great AF is helping all the black people. And anything different would mean he hates black peoppe. Blind support.

Are you serious?
This article is specifically about how the Supreme Court of the United States dealt with affirmative action. We're not ignoring or saying the rest of the world is unimportant.

It's like asking, "how many people live in the US?"

And then you say "YEAH forget THE WORLD THE US IS THE MOST IMPORTANT RIGHT?"

its about affirmative action in the united states so how is the white population in other countries relevant

When MLK said his I have a Dream speech, he said that he looked for the day that for day when his kids wouldn't be judged for the color of their skin, but for their character.

So if their a white kid with a 3.8 gpa vs a Hispanic of 2.6 gpa, who is the better choice? Is it tribal if the white one got picked over the other? Nope. Vice versa. Black Student 4.8 vs a white student 3.0 gpa. The black one got picked, is it tribal that the better choice got picked? Nope.

can someone TL;DR this entire argument for me?

Read something.

night fox is on a flaming friend spree and is getting gang forgeted by everyone

can someone TL;DR this entire argument for me?
TL;DR:
Affirmative action is when colleges give special privileges to minorities so they have a better chance to get a good education. Night Fox does not seem to realize that this is discrimination and thinks it makes things equal. Everyone else thinks it's dumb because it's discrimination.

If you'd rather see a cheesy single sentence:
It's like fighting racism with more loving racism.

martin luther king was even like "ayo man dont get all pissy at white folk see there's some here supporting us look at that stuff" in his speech. those exact words.
can someone TL;DR this entire argument for me?
everyone agrees this is good except night fox who seems to be is some denial

so when its in effect, they can go "okay your doing pretty horrible but since you're black we'll just let you go on"?
or is it the other way around?
I'm slightly confused about this but I want to understand it really

no. it makes them ignore race in applications

those exact words
For those actually wanting to see what he said:

Quote
The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Bro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people, for many of our white brothers, as evidenced by their presence here today, have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny. And they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom.

so when its in effect, they can go "okay your doing pretty horrible but since you're black we'll just let you go on"?
or is it the other way around?
