Author Topic: If you could go back in history, what would you change?  (Read 8374 times)

Just a question I was pondering about today. If you could go back into time as far as you wanted and change history, what would you do?

I'd think I would stop the Tenerife plane accident

Now if you have no idea what it is:

for future reference, don't link to mobile wikipedia

anyway, why something like that? there are much bigger tragedies you could avoid :v

Probably something about screwing up time, although regardless that would happen.

Which is why you don't change anything; always watching, never acting.

The first humans on earth from mating. We derived from africa (or god if u into that) and at one point on earth there was as few as 300 humans. At this time point i would go back and stop the females from living.

If you change any single thing in history you can forget a lot of stuff up.

Want to be a hero and make it so all the slaves from Africa were never taken to America?
The colonies wouldn't have been rich enough in order to consider separating from their mommy.

Want to be a hero and kill Riddler?
Someone would have replaced him, and hey, that replacement could have been actually not mentally crazed and steamrolled Europe.

Want to kill your grandfather because he was a mafia boss that aided the kool kids klub?
Good luck with your paradox.

Genesis took place in Ethiopia.

So yeah.

Change history so that Riddler would have won WW2

the south winning
joke

Stop the Romans from loving themselves into oblivion. Think how crazy the Roman empire would be if it continued all the way to today.

it would have just died at another time

Take modern technology/ideas/blueprint/etc. Basically all of science from 1800-Now; and bring it to US in 1776, thus allowing us as a country to be 200 years more advanced than the rest of the world, resulting in the modern world being 200 years more awesome. I would repeat until humanity has colonized space thoroughly by 2014; that way life would be interesting.

Assassinate Christopher Columbus. His gold exports caused the Gold Coast of Africa to economically decline, this in turn causing Africans to be enslaved. Tl;dr, Christopher Columbus was the father of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. This could prevent the Civil War from happening, and it'd basically be a domino effect all the way to today.

And yet without him no one would have bothered to go east.

Of course without him NO ONE WOULD HAVE SETTLED HERE. Gold was a light to all of the mothy empires of Europe. So basically of course the CW never happened because the 13 colonies were never founded!

Prevent the dark age
Nope. Dark Age brought along the Renaissance.

This is actually a very delicious idea... however, I can see it causing a paradox.

I'd kill Badspot in '03

Uh, i'm sure the native americans and africans would've been fine without the genocide and slavery. Then again, slavery and genocide dates back awhile. I'm not quite sure, but I want to say that the Middle Eastern people were the first to do it. I'd stop the first slave trade.
