A Jagex moderator posted on a Reddit post about that.
He said he checked the GE transactions of Scuzzy. The guy spent 10b on items the day Invention was released.

Anything is worth it for the race to 99 as long as you're dedicated to it.

Me on the other hand. I don't have the requirements just yet for Invention. But I'm close. I'm spending my time skilling for the requirements and making money while I wait for people to find the best ways to level it up. Also I don't find it worth training at the moment because Jagex is buffing the slower route by quite a lot. So for now hold onto your supplies that you want to dismantle and hold on to everything until they buff more of the routes and balance the skill out. Unless you're going for 99 or 120 of course.
