Overall we should have thought about the unregulated gambling aspect of it. We were so focused on the system and how it would work, that we completely overlooked the fact that this very well could be illegal and unethical. camel, sir dooble and Badspot are 100% correct here no matter how harmless it is.
agreed

and i apologize if i made any comments against CCa or you that were untrue, it's just that the concept is not justifiable.

1. Gambling in general is covered by a bunch of laws you're probably not following
So does this mean you won't permit it, or that you are simply warning them that they may be breaking the law?

I'm pretty sure it's a no-no on the forums.
If people are advertising it here, on Badspots forum for gambling in his game, then the risk is that he can be held responsible for permitting it.

It's not worth the risk for Badspot to get in trouble, and it's not worth the risk that someone hosting some gambling may con people out of money and those conned come back here and complain.

The intentions might be completely harmless, but it is best that it's nipped in the bud before something bad happens.
As for a general rule, if it's illegal in anyway, or is particularly shady and dubious, you should not be discussing/promoting it on the forums.

True, but if he felt at risk from this topic he would have deleted it instead of making a public display out of it by moving it to a forum where it's guaranteed to be seen by more people. So it seems like he merely thinks it's a dumb idea and moved it to drama because of the people orchestrating it.

dooble i just realised we both have metal slug avatars, we must be bound brothers

that may be, but then again cca didn't technically do anything yet either, it's just a dangerous situation.

start writing 99% of your posts in paragraphs and we'll see

if only paul the octopus was alive so we could decide :(

It should be the other way around-- people can bet on themselves but not others. That's how betting works in real life.
i cant tell if you're being serious
how the hell does betting on a race work then?

Yeah, that's not a thing.
We had illegal drug megathreads that clocked a few dozen pages before finally dying naturally.
Badspot cares about piracy in particular because he can sympathize with game developers who would be getting screwed out of money.
Other than that, I don't think he's ever really banned someone just for saying they did something illegal.

If he did, we'd all be banned.

though i think he has banned people if they say they've DDos'd things, but then again that sorta falls underneath the no trolling rule

that's pretty obviously not what he's talking about lol. for example NBA players wouldn't bet on the opposing team (as if they actually needed more money)

2. Gambling is probably explicitly forbidden in paypal's terms of service.  It only takes one disgruntled bettor to file a complaint and all your funds will be frozen/seized.
Did a quick Google search and PayPal only allows skill-based gambling. Though considering how most of the Blockland community isn't 18 or 21, this is technically illegal.

Is this supposed to be in...Drama????

Huh? I'm saying people that are actually competing. If you're a boxer in a boxing match you can't put everything you own on the guy you're fighting because then it's obvious you're going to throw the fight to win tons of money.
