Im wondering if using the Acer's case would work. It would save me a lot of money

You could also use Legos or a cardboard box.

So is that a no?

The moniter is a Hanns-G

The mouse I would get: http://www.amazon.com/Bornd-M120-Reduction-Batteries-Included/dp/B00CG5L8Y4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1399843505&sr=8-1&keywords=silent+mouse

Keyboard is taken care of but I would probably get a new one if the cost of the computer came out good

I never said yes or no. I'm giving you an alternative. You can use it for all I care.

What do you think about it though? Should I take more pictures of it? From what I remember the fans were moderately noisy, they weren't loud but they were kind of annoying. If it was just the hard drive that crashed I could probably use some other parts in it if it came down to it

Double post: can someone direct me to a good graphics card? I think I have the fans and the case (if I need it) figured out. Suggestions for a good processor might be nice. I found a $60 one: http://www.amazon.com/AMD-A6-5400K-3-6Ghz-Processor-AD540KOKHJBOX/dp/B0095VPBFY/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1399871979&sr=8-3&keywords=computer+processor

What do you guys think?

Don't know if you know any teachers, but my aunt got me office 2010 for $21. She teaches at a college, and was able to get a discount.
What is office used for? I have Windows 7

Most prebuilt computer cases are incredibly small. This makes fitting all the parts & having good airflow really hard to do.

Can you make your own cases easily?

Found this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B3Y32HA?psc=1

It's pre-built so I don't know if they stuck things in there I don't need

Uhhh you might've taken what I said wrong. I meant prebuilt computers. Not premade cases. I was talking about the cases that come with prebuilt computers

Oh ok. I would like to avoid all pre built stuff anyway unless I'm getting a good deal on it

You can easily save a few bucks by taking out a CD/DVD drive from one of your old computers. As long as it can read DVDs, it's good.

Edit: Also if you can find an AMD Radeon HD 7770 or HD 7850, those are some pretty good GPU cards for cheap prices. I have the HD 7850 and it works great, I can play most games on really good settings.

I have the exact same case in my basement; I threw together a crappy build with it and hosted socket servers for some of my programming experiments a while back. It's just sorta sitting there now.

If you're looking to build a PC, I can help with that. I have quite a bit of experience with building them, especially on a budget.

I made my computer case out of legos with all the sockets and stuff, i had to sacrifice a few legos for screws but it was worth it
it was hard as forget too
it broke after a month tho

A good website to build your desktop is gamepc.nl The website is dutch but its very VERY cheap. For what you get.
I got mine there too.

This is my "old" PC.
Is a great one too!

Yeah I'll probably use the Acer's drive then

Can you play Blockland and stuff with good shaders and it won't lag much?

Cool, any tips you have I would be glad to hear

Wow, I have never heard of that being done. Lol did it fall off your desk and shatter?

How great was it?

Here's the good stuff, this is the Acer:

The fan looks kinda gross

We used to pop this battery in and out when the computer wouldn't boot up until one Saturday morning when I was playing Blockland and the power went out. It hasn't turned on to this day

Here's the Compaq

I don't mean to cross post but here's my incomplete parts list (if I need them)

Case (if I need it)

Fans

Maybe these fans?
