Author Topic: Pokemon Zeta and Omicron - 1.4.8 Released, Trade Servers Back Online  (Read 78537 times)

Pokemon Zeta and Pokemon Omicron are fanmade Pokemon games made in RPG Maker XP. It is NOT a rom-hack and is made completely from the ground-up. It is free and available for Windows, Mac, and (sort-of) Linux.

FEATURES LIST
  • Approximately 70 Hours of Gameplay
  • 2 Regions with 12 Gyms, 4 Sigil Halls, and a Battle Frontier
  • A good story. No more silly plots. The bad guys in Z/O mean loving business.
  • A lot of endgame content (lots of legendaries to capture.)
  • A raised level limit of 120.
  • A functional online GTS!
  • Shadow Pokemon!
  • Delta Pokemon!
  • Your Pokemon follow you (Like HG/SS!)
  • All 649 Pokemon from Generations I-V as well as a few from Gen VI!
  • Secret bases with lots of content!
  • Mega evolutions!
  • Fairy types!
  • A few Fakemon! (Fear not! They are not dramatic storyline changers and they actually fit well, such as an evolution of Ditto!)
  • Viewable EVs and IVs!
  • HM replacements in the form of items! No need for HM slaves anymore!
  • Challenge modes such as Randomizer, Solo, and Nuzlocke!
  • Run your own Gym!

The game is free and is made by Reddit user /u/thesuzerain and has been in development for over two years! The game's website can be visited at http://pokemonzetaomicron.com or at the official subreddit, http://reddit.com/r/pokemonzetaomicron.

LINUX
To play on Linux:
Quote
In this example, I am using Zeta. The process is identical for Omicron, just change the directories.
Step 1:
Download the Mac version of the game and extract it wherever you want.
Step 2:
After extracting, cd to the folder that contains Game.exe.
'/Pokemon Zeta Mac 1.3.11.app/drive_c/Program Files/Pokemon Zeta (edit)/Game.exe' is what it is now.
Step 3. Open Game.exe with Wine with the command wine Game.exe.
That is the bare minimum to start playing!
To make an application in Ubuntu, make a file called zeta.sh. Open the file in a text editor and copy/paste the cd command, and then skip a few lines and type "wine Game.exe".
Save and close the file. Mark it as executable by right-clicking it and selecting properties, then permissions, and check the box that says "Allow executing file as program".
Run it by double clicking it to make sure it works. If not, make sure those commands work when typed into a terminal. Make sure the directory you type into your cd command is in apostrophes.
If you do not have it already, get Alacarte Menu Editor either in the software store, or with "sudo apt-get install Alacarte"
Open Alacarte (sometimes just called menu editor).
Click on the "Games" menu on the left side of the screen. Click "New Item" on the left side of the screen.
Make sure Type is Application. As name, put whatever you want. I would suggest "Pokemon Zeta". For command, hit "Browse..." and select the Zeta.sh that you made and click "Open". If given the box for Comment, just type in a description such as "Play Pokemon Omicron". For the icon, use whatever you would like. Since I could not find the proper icon for it, I just use this .
Click OK. and then close Alacarte. Your game should now show up in your applications list!

Yep, but there's fully functioning trade and battle over the internet.

this is a lot bigger than I initially expected

looks like it still suffers from "beginner pixel artist syndrome" but it's definitely worth a shot

i always crash with my autosave on

but i absolutly love this game

I saw this mentioned in the Pokemon megathread, butbi didn't know it was this big...definitely downloading this later. I wonder if anybody has made a homebrew of it yet...?

I taught my Breloom a custom grass move, hits REALLY hard (70 damage, physical), pretty neat feature but it feels almost unfair lol.
