why not do it?
It was mostly my stupid ass young self tryng to be rebellious and badass, but I think at the time I was really trying to stress some point that not everyone has "liberty and justice" in america or something like that.

Did this way back in elementary; it stopped entirely around 3rd-4th grade. Didn't do the pledge ever since.

lol my stupid history teacher tried to get me in trouble for refusing to get up and say it but my principal just supported me.
lol, your principal supported you because it is illegal to force a student to stand up and say the pledge...

why not do it?
Personally I don't believe citizens of a republic should have to pledge allegiance to it. Other people have issues with the under god part, some have issues with current politics and don't feel like pledging their loyalty to current administrations or whatever. Doesn't really matter the reason.

I see the pledge as something you say to show that you're under the governments control. And I don't care for the under god part, doesn't that kinda go against the first amendment? Isn't saying 'under god' going against some peoples religion?

When I was in the US I only said it when I was at one private school, none of the public schools ever did it to my memory.

I guess what could be counted as similar at my current school (In Australia) is that in assembly, the chaplain reads a name from the book of old students who have died in wars, then the headmaster says "At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. Lest we forget". It's for a seemingly different purpose though.

The only time we ever have a moment of silence is on ANZAC day and on Remembrance day.

I personally don't however.
i wish i could be a badass like you senpai

In middle school we had to say it everyday but now we just say it every monday.

I have to say it everyday.

im in high school and they still do the allegiance. most of the students dont take part any more, but they still announce it every day

My school does it over the intercom on Wednesday mornings.  I kind of mouth the words a little.

Got to remind everyone they're American everyday in case they forget.

Do you say the Australian pledge of allegiance??

You don't have to say it. The school can't force you into doing so.

Do you say the Australian pledge of allegiance??
Nope, I never pledged Allegiance to Australia so I'm probably a terrorist.
