probably because we as a society don't often project females as mechanics or construction site workers or engineers. there isn't a biological or inherent factor that prevents women from getting typically male jobs. (except maybe jobs that require significant strength) it's just gender roles and society resisting change.

Assuming that the percent of men caring for their kids doesn't increase or decrease significantly as their children get older, we can infer that about 20% of parents caring for their children full time are men.

yeah, percentages of cases in which the mother was the only one involved: 70%.

but if my inference that only 20% of stay at home parents are men is true, then theoretically women should account for 80% of cases (being 80% of the stay at home parents) and men 20%.
