sure, yeah. maybe c-2 can create a distraction by shooting first, then hiding back.
my original plan was to run to the shelf while suppressing then throw

Cobalt 2 smashes the window and fires in the general direction of the aliens. The cowardly sectoids go to ground, while the cyberdisc continues to hover ominously. In the meantime, Cobalt 1 and 4 run to the shelving unit and take cover. (There is a rifle right next to Cobalt 4, but taking it on his next turn means no grenade to throw.)

Suddenly, with a shriek and a hiss, the thin man pulls out a plasma rifle and points it at Cobalt 2. It all becomes clear now. The green discoloration around his collar that he was trying to cover up. The way he sounded a lot more scared than he looked. The way he somehow managed to avoid capture despite the alien presence in the warehouse. He's not just in league with the aliens, he is an alien!
Also, the cyberdisc begins to approach the two soldiers indoors.

stuff, C2 is all alone!
get him to cover!

You can have him jump through the window, protecting him from the Thin Man almost entirely but putting him in the same room as the Sectoids and Cyberdisc and possibly cutting himself on the glass, or you can have him take cover behind the tire, providing only minor protection from the Thin Man.

You guys screwed yourselves over when you sacrificed C3 for nothing lol

Jump through that window, it seems as though he'll be out of the line of fire from the the aliens

jump through the window and dash for cover while the other two suppress the aliens

Get one of two guys to suppress alien behind box while second member throws grenade behind boxes

Cobalt 2 dives through the window, taking 1 point of damage as he cuts himself on the glass.
Meanwhile, Cobalt 4 prepares and throws a grenade at the Sectoids while Cobalt 1 fills the air around them with rifle fire.

The Thin Man appears at the window, unable to shoot immediately but putting Cobalt 2 in great danger if he decides not to find better cover on his next turn. Suddenly the cyberdisc springs into action, vaporizing a barrel and freeing up one of the Sectoids to run away from the grenade. The other is too intimidated by the loud-ass assault rifle and remains in cover. Next to a grenade that is about to explode.

I don't want to put him at risk, but C2 is close to a rifle

C2: move 5 units closer to the thin man, fire burst shot
C4, C1: fire full auto on the cyberdisc

Is it possible for c2 to fire at the thin man, then move towards the rifle? If possible have him do that, while c1 and c4 give the disc a taste of american lead

we're fighting giant flying laser pizzas?!

Qwepir it's the first mission and you're already introducing cyberdisks? Unless this is meant to be some mission where everyone dies on purpose how do you expect these guys to win?

It could be worse, like Mutons. Outnumbered by muton...

The Sectoid is utterly destroyed, along with its cover. The cyberdisc on the other hand doesn't seem bothered in the slightest by all the commotion.

The sectoid's partner, on the other hand, seems to be trying to flank Cobalt 1 and 4. He peeks out and fires a shot before hiding back in his cover.
Rolled 23 to hit (Required 15): Failure!

Judging by the hole that thing just left in the wall, that must be one powerful little gun it's carrying. The cyberdisc is just making a loud humming noise gradually rising in pitch, possibly recharging its beam.

C2 Supress sectiod with rifle, C1 suppress disc, c4 shoot sectiod.
