I think there was going to be one, but it was scrapped

sakurai said he wasn't going to because the cutscenes for the brawl one got leaked

thanks obama

ACTUALLY I'm pretty sure it was because of the system limitations for the 3DS

I don't think it would have been crazy for Sakurai to have a single player mode exclusive to Wii U

He could just do something cutscene-less like Smash Run was. How about entire areas based on a game, where a character has to go from point A to point B, and fight a boss at the end? Mega Man, for example, could go through various stages and fight robot masters at the end, and Pit could fight underworld enemies to get to the end and fight bosses like Pandora, Dark Pit [Unlockable], and [SPOLERS: Hades].
The Wii U probably has plenty of hardware space to support something like this for all characters, although I wonder what Wii Fit trainer and the Villager would have for this...

adventure mode from melee was pretty legit

I only played standard matches in Melee, so I don't really know how the adventure mode went. I'll go look up some videos...
EDIT: Yeah, something like that, except instead of one whole linear game, it could be a bunch of stages you'd have to complete to unlock the next sets.

not to mention subspace emissary sucks. it's not even that different from the melee adventure thing except that it's longer and it's a real story mode, but my main problem lies with the fact that you can't take 5 steps without being interrupted by a cutscene. it's not fun.

I loved it. You can skip the cutscenes.

still not sure if i'll be avoiding spoilers or just look at them while waiting for the european version to come out

Dunno if this was mentioned before, but allegedly the leak didn't show all of the characters in the roster.

The cutscenes were the only cool part about SSE
