doesn't surprise me. half those people just go "BUT MUH NOSTALGIA" with melee, then theres the 10% that actually have a justifiable reason as to why they think its better than the rest.

Honestly melee is the worst smash game because of the fact it caused all of these people to turn into these kinds of starfishs.
No, and this is part of the problem. We are one smash community. Respect between all games is the point here; not calling melee players and fans cigarettes and saying they're the problem. I like melee and smash 4, and I feel like this is a group of disrespectful people who don't represent the whole community. Personally I think that if you can't show respect, just keep your mouth shut and don't say a damn thing. Vocalizing how much you dislike a game in a way like this is just ridiculous and unnecessary, and it gives new players a bad idea.
This is not how the majority of the community acts.
However, given that its happened two years in a row, this is the impression they, and by extension we as a community are sending.
My point is, it isn't melee fans in general that is the problem, its people who feel like smash 4 is inferior and doesn't deserve a chance to prove itself otherwise. Or maybe it isn't. I dunno, kinda writing this on my phone and getting distracted
also the ledge grabbing is weird in melee
smash 4 actually removed edge hogging as a mechanic and made it so you steal it instead
