Regardless of the odds of a dynamic user getting unfairly blocked, IP-address banning doesn't really have any effect because it's the age of mobile devices and broadband. It's so easy to use a VPN or mobile connection, so you might as well not be banning them at all. It's probably much easier to ban Pacnet's BL_ID (70227) than our IP address.

If this is what you like to do when it comes to administration, I don't want to play on your servers anyway. Pacnet is certainly capable of steering around an IP address ban. Therefore, you should ban the BL_ID. Do you want Pacnet to spend 10 minutes registering for a free VPN and setting it up, or do you want Pacnet to spend ten dollars on a new copy of BL?

The only two players I banned are Setro and Kozak. Kozak really deserved it because he trolled twice on HammerHost servers, plus he has a history of abuse. Hell, I did not do a complete ban from HammerHost, I only blocked Kozak from UDP connections. I don't mind if he browses the web site.
As for Setro, I will un-ban him after the current DDoS ends.

The reason I blocked Setro is to protect my hosting service in case he was actually going to DDoS or annoy players on HammerHost-run BL servers. I blocked Kozak because I did not want him to troll more. The first time he trolled on Buttman's server, I just banned his BL_ID from only that server. The next time Kozak trolled, I blocked his IP address.

Do you see how when I block an IP address, I do it because I want to protect myself? And I also do not block players just because they are problem users or I hate them? If I blocked players out of hatred, you and Furdle would have been blocked a long time ago.
