 Slay the Giant Spider

No one likes crustaceans. Crabs, scorpions, and lobsters are all the scum of this Earth, but everyone will probably agree that spiders are the worst pieces of stuff ever. They aren't even crustaceans, but we're hurling them into that category for foreshadowing purposes. I wonder what I mean??? Regardless, that invasive arachnid is why it's your job to defend the forums from a giant spider's incoming attacks!

 What the Hell is This?

Slay the Spider is a typical "roll the dice for an action," game, except with an RPG flair. One must enter a command of some sort, explaining how they will attempt to kill the spider. The rules are as following:

   1. First, when a player submits their first action, they must also create a character. By doing so, they must allocate 700 points to 7 different stats (Willpower, the 8th stat, requires no allocation). While assigning numbers, realize that 100 is the "average," and think of it as 100% of the normal stat. After stating their stats, I will calculate your character, and you can begin playing! The specific stats are (note: any terms not from the traditional game will be explained later!):

  • Guts (affects health)
  • Willpower (Affects the number of times you can use special moves, determined by WP.)
  • Strength (Exclusively a damaging stat)
  • Tech (Exclusively a damaging stat)
  • Agility (Exclusively a damaging stat)
  • Intellect (Affects the number of times you can use special moves.)
  • Luck (Mathematically, it’s exclusively a damaging stat, but if you have above average luck, I may consider re-rolling a crappy roll)
  • Kindness (Affects the power of buffs and healing moves)

   2. Each action must have a corresponding damaging stat. For example, if you are punching the spider, you must put (Strength) or anything else that clarifies you are using strength. Any of the 8 stats can be used as a damaging stat. Illogical damaging stats will most likely be changed or ignored, however.

   3. In addition to making sense, you cannot repeat a damaging stat until you have used 4 different ones. To clarify, you cannot use a tech-based action until you used any of the other 7 stats in an action 3 times. I realize this may be confusing, so I’ll tell you if you are offending this rule early on.

   4. In addition to standard actions, you may choose to consume willpower to benefit other players or use stronger attacks, starting at level 2. Using willpower (WP) will allow you to ignore the third rule. During rage mode, you will not consume any WP. If a skill you want to use is unlisted, please suggest it to me and I will attempt to make fair rules for it. These are the WP costs for skills:

  • To increase everyone’s dice rolls for the turn, you must consume 5 WP. Specific players and stats will require 3 WP.
  • Increasing damage for everyone requires the consumption of 3 WP. Specific players and stats will require 2 WP. Your kindness stat will be directly applied to each player. Note that this also includes self-inflicted damage.
  • Restoring health for a single person requires 3 WP, and healing your own or everyone's health requires 4 WP. The maximum amount you can heal is half of your calculated kindness.
  • Creating a shield on a player (insta-revive) requires 5 WP. The probability of it failing is low, but it is still based on your luck.
  • Using a strong skill requires 5 WP.
  • Using a debuff on the spider requires 2 WP.
  • You can sacrifice a small amount of guts to restore WP.

Don't feel the need to be frugal! Spider retaliations can restore WP, and I may make skills that enable you to heal someone else's WP.

   5. The numbers that appear at the end of an action (example: (5)) indicate the level of success of your action.

A 1 is a complete failure and will cause you to damage yourself.

A 2 will null your action completely.

A 3 is a less-than-success-but-still-a-success. You do the job poorly, in essence.

      A 4 is a normal success.

A 5 does more than anticipated.

A 6 enables you to gain a self-buff based on an additional roll.

Rolling a 1 at this point will cause you to injure yourself.

Rolling a 6 at this point will cause you to overshoot, doing more than a normal 5, but also injure yourself.

Rolling anything else at this point will cause you to gain a buff in which you do more damage, all buffs  that target you are reflected back to the user, and you do not need to spend willpower for buffs and skills. The buff lasts for 2 rounds.

   6. After dealing a certain amount of damage, a player will level up. A level up will increase all stats.

   7. Inactive players and newbies will gain automatic level-ups as the spider gets tougher, to keep the game fair.

   8. For every 5 players that move per turn, the spider will retaliate somehow. This could be a debuff, a loss of health, or maybe a (beneficial) surprise!

I don’t think there’s anything else I need to explain, but any questions will be answered! Also, updating until Friday may be a little wonky since I still have school so bear with me a bit early on.

The Spider currently has 500,000 HP. The web resistance is 2.

alright

You roll a 3 and deal a massive 3 damage. Despite the sheer intensity of your pearly whites, a single cavity prevented you from being as beautiful as you wish. The wall is repulsed.

499,997 HP remain.

(using this as an example. charles wanted to use kindness as an offensive stat, mind you)

throw zimbabwe at the wall (strength: 1)

You need stats first. Sorry!

alright i'm working on update one

i didn't start the fancy mass-update text so it's gonna be a sec

~*Update 1*~

CharlesSpeaking (GUTS: 13/13; WP: 10/10) (5): You play an amazing game, thanks to your spectacular luck! The wall is crying and will require psychological help, but you dealt 10 damage. Level up!

KillerCop311 (GUTS: 13/13; WP: 10/10) (3): It turns out that you accidentally used a generic bomb instead of a nuclear bomb. On the bright side, you still dealt 7 damage.

TristanLuigi (GUTS: 13/13; WP: 11/11) (2): You successfully hack into the wall's banking account, but you are caught by the police! No damage dealt.

REMAINING HP: 499,980

~*Update 2*~

CharlesSpeaking (GUTS: 16/16; WP: 12/12) (4): You jump over the wall, as if it were a hurdle, successfully. As the wall attempts to watch you with its wall eyes, it realizes that it can't turn its eyes that far back, taking away 5 damage. Too bad your agility sucks.

Mus (GUTS: 13-2/13; WP: 10/10) (1): Brimming with determination, you attempt to pick up the entire country of Zimbabwe, starting from its coast. You realize, however, that the country is landlocked. You lock yourself in the shame cube and take 2 damage in Guts, leaving you with 11 .

TristanLuigi (GUTS: 13/13; WP: 11/11) (4): The game is relatively uneventful, and so you win easily. The wall somehow loses 6 damage and vows to never play a board game again. Were you expecting to do much damage from a board game?

I use a knife and scissors to cut out Zimbabwe. I throw it.

I use a Giga Drill and pierce the very complex wall
