You can vote the poll, It's up to you! You can tell us about your theory about the new invent of warp drive engine.

coooooooooooollllll

you can smell the bullstuff from 90 miles away

Too bad it's extremely unlikely

The Alcubierre warp drive is a very interesting arena for thought experiments to try to better understand general relativity and quantum field theory, but it should give you zero hope for actually building a spaceship some day. Some of the many problems are discussed on Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive#Difficulties

In short, it requires negative energy densities, which can't be strictly disproven but are probably unrealistic; the total amount of energy is likely to be equivalent to the mass-energy of an astrophysical body; and the gravitational fields produced would likely rip any ship to shreds. My personal estimate of the likelihood we will ever be able to build a "warp drive" is much less than 1%. And the chances it will happen in the next hundred years I would put at less than 0.01%.

But they are very pretty pictures! Would look great in a movie.

i mean it looks pretty

if we actually have the technology for this then wowe

It's just a design. It doesn't mean they've invented the warp drive.

Where no blockland has gone before

It's just a design. It doesn't mean they've invented the warp drive.

Exactly, they can't develop warp drives due to many factors.

1. Hyperfriction
2. HOW THE HELL DOES ONE WARP?
3. Uses helluva lot of fuel
and etc.

(Looks more like a station than a ship, no landing gear)

1. That doesn't exist. At all.
2. By manipulating negative energy to condense space ahead of you and expand space behind you.
3. It's not fuel, it's energy that's used.
stop taking all of your science from sci-fi.

1. What?

2 & 3. That's where science comes in...
