That's crafty...

After a bit of a run, you hear gunshots behind you.  The group stops and gets low.  Nothing but the sound of the wind in the trees.

Charles:  "Well, there goes our problem.  Probably."

Running through the forest is dangerous.  It's often filled with marauders and highwaymen.  It seems like they were going after you, but instead shot your pursuers.

Tom:  "Aww stuff, now we gotta be on high alert tonight.  These guys could be sulking around our camp."

Charles:  "Hey, at least they're not FF."

After a short walk, you arrive at a thick part of the forest.  The trees and undergrowth are almost like a solid wall.

Home.

You begin to crawl on your belly under the thick growth.

Forward.  Right.  Forward.  Two lefts.  Right.  Forward.  Right.  Hop into the crevice.  Take that route until it becomes a cave.

You follow the cave until you come to a clearing.

???: "Hold it right there!"

You see the barrel of a shotgun sticking out of the shadows across the way.

Hit the anonymous person with your nail-board.

Hit the anonymous person with your nail-board.
Don't - you don't know how many other people are there. See what they want before attacking them.

??? "Who are you?"

The voice is female, and cold.

call out in a cautious tone, stating your name

Michael:  "Umm...  Hey, I'm Michael."  You put your hands slowly above your head after setting down what you are holding, and Charles and Tom do the same.

?Mysterious Female?:  "I'll need you to come with me.". Pick up your stuff and hand me your weapons."

She steps out into the light.  She's dark-skinned, in her early 20s, no taller than 5'6" wearing a black tank top, camo pants fastened by a thick black belt, steel-toed shoes, a pair of gloves, and a red bandana.  She continues walking, pointing the shotgun at the group as you pick up your goods and continue on the next clearing through the cave through which you came.

?Mysterious Female?:  "Pick it up!"

She prods Tom in the back.  Hopefully Bernie* didn't run into this girl.

You walk into the dark cave between the first clearing, which is usually left empty, and the second clearing which contains the camp of you, Tom, Charles and Bernie.  You worry about Bernie– he's usually able to persuade people with his kindness and goodwill, but this girl is tough business.  You round the corner and see Bernie sitting at a fire, poking at the coals, as usual.  Good, he's alive.  He looks up at you.

Burnie: "Aliza, what are you doing with my friends?"

Aliza: "stuff!  These were the guys you were talking about?!  Goddamn it gramps..."

Bernie:  "It's okay.  It's okay.  You guys can set yourself over in the stack**."

*Bernie Heinz, an older man, about 55.  While your group went to attack him a year ago, he willfully offered food and water to the group.  In other raids that you have conducted, you have come across him again and again.  He seems to survivevwell on his own by compassion– evidently other factions have not chosen to kill him, and may even have supported him in the past to return kindness.  He is a lover, not a fighter, and so he remains the housekeeper of the group.

**The supply pile.

Fist bump Bernie hello.

Well stuff. She didn't know, don't be an ass to her.

And ask for the girl's name.
Aliza

Fist bump Bernie hello.
You extend a fist to Bernie, who looks up from the fire at your face, your fist and then back at your face, confused.

Bernie:  "What?"
Michael:  "Fist bump."
Bernie:  "Fist bump?"
Michael:  "Nevermind."

Yeah, despite Bernie being a really chill guy, he doesn't really know the modern lingo, nor does he talk much.
