the loudest voices are often the most unfortunate/obnoxious ones

IIRC "GSM" standing for "Gender and loveual Minorities" is accepted to be more encompassing.

MOGII is also cool. marginalized orientations, gender identities, and interlove

Meh... having gay pride banners posters, lgbt posters/banners, and rainbow flags put up everywhere is just as annoying as straight pride. The LGBTqwhatever community is one of the largest and most vocal minorities. They are the majority of minorities.

Meanwhile people are being killed for being of a different religion or not having a religion like in the middle east or in eastern Europe. In Africa people are killing each being born in a different tribe or being of a different ethnic group. In the middle east, women are being killed for not obeying their father. In the United States many native American tribes still live in poverty with substandard housing and lack of running water or electricity. Meanwhile more and more white people are impersonating natives to get attention and federal money. In the north and south, blacks still face discrimination in the work field and in government institutions. Is bad? Yes. Does it need more attention over some of the more serious issues like genocide and race descrimiantion? Nope.

You are less likely to hear about all those things in the news, meanwhile almost everyday I hear about some kid who came out in front of school, some trans kid who got cyber bullied, or how some gay kid was physically attacked and kicked out of his home for being. Not being allowed to be married, getting kicked out of your home and not being liked because of your loveual orientation is not as bad as being killed for your religion and race.

but hey, I least I now know that bobby came out as gay infront of his whole classroom instead of a tribe of pygmies being killed by African rebels.

as a country there is nothing we can do about this. if you want to help, go over there yourself, and try to deal with their problems. but if you aren't going to do that, quit whining about it

Way to ignore all of the problems he listed that occur in this country.

I didn't say anything about it because I agree with him

The very slim minority of Tumblr SJWs who believe that anyone who is cishet deserves to be burned. They aren't even the leading group of people, anyway. That's who I believe he's referring to.

Although if he's referring to asshats like Dan Savage (who "allies" seem to put on a pedestal) since he gets away with biphobia and common sense because he's gay, then I agree.
i sure hope so

It's even pronounceable. It's perfect! Too bad LGBT[Q+] is so ingrained in the movement already. It'd be hard to change now. I suppose LGBT+ is the best way to put it given that.

The LGBTqwhatever community is one of the largest and most vocal minorities. jeez i didn't realize if an arguably worse problem exists, all problems besides it are invalid until we fix it. this is a fallacious argument. just because things are worse elsewhere doesn't mean the LGBT movement is pointless or whatever you're trying to argue. what you see in the news is controlled by news channels. they present whatever will get them the highest ratings. solving america's problems isn't high on their list.

your beef is with the news. not the LGBT movement. i didn't realize someone could be handicapped enough to argue that the LGBT movement is harmful because they're beginning to be listened to.

once again, the "hurr durr if problem 1 exists we cant do ANYTHING ELSE as a society until problem 2 is solved"

>thinks america is capable of caring about people in other countries

While I agree that those are all relevant issues and some of them are being ignored, I disagree that gay rights (on a national perspective. In some countries, you absolutely will be killed for being gay) are silencing them. Oppression is not a competition, so you shouldn't be thinking "A is a more important and worse issue than B," but rather "A is not getting enough attention." B is not relevant to A, and they shouldn't be. I realize that you are following my suggestion to an extent, but that extent is why I am bringing this up.

Also, I fail to see how gay pride is as annoying as straight pride.

Thank you for wording it better.

The UN intervened in the stuff that was going down in Yugoslavia and Rwanda. However they look the other way at the stuff that goes on in other countries.

Every day: Hey, we have a different loveual orientation and people don't like us. Give us rights and protection.
Its a horse that has been beaten, rotted, then was continued to be beaten until turned into fertilizer which grew a tree that now blacks out other pressing issues.

You'd be surprised. Some feminist who are white hate other feminists who are of a different ethnicity or color. There are gays who disregard trans people as outcasts, but preach for acceptance and tolerance. It shouldn't be that way, but that is the ugly truth.

Even if you really are going to keep thinking it's like that, just remember that straight pride is for a majority group. Gay pride is for a minority group.

It's like complaining that there's no white entertainment channel or white history month.

Oh no, I'm definitely aware, but I fail to see how that's relevant.

how has it been beaten to death? LGBT rights are still relevant. you can still be fired for being gay. you can still be prohibited to act as a member of your SO's family. you still can't get married. this all applies to other gender and loveual minorities as well. it's not a dead horse, it's absolutely still relevant. you are still preaching the fallacy about multiple problems.

doesn't mean the movement is invalid or useless. just means that there are starfishs in the world. this doesn't prove anything.

What the hell is wrong with you? I never said anything like this. It appeared to me like someone ignored part of an argument, so I pointed it out. I was wrong about that, and they corrected me in the very next post.

How can you just jump from the fact, "Someone pointed out something that they thought looked like an evasive argument technique," to "this person supports everything I believe is wrong about the argument opposing mine?" Like what sort of psychotic world do you live in?
