I never said it would be a good lewinsky.

I don't think they would be pleased if it was attempted

MEANWHILE IN NAUC

Days go by. The smuggling situation is sorted out, contraband has been confiscated, and Mjolnir flight has been un-grounded. Any further attempts to smuggle in contraband will be handled with lethal efficiency.

SUDDENLY A MISSION

OPERATION CRYPTIC ENGINE
"We've caught word that the Huits have recovered some pod-tech on Chryssali Island, a contested area, and they are attempting to move it by train to one of their ports to ship it back to their homelands. Obviously, we can't let them do that, so we've organized a flight of paratroopers to drop on to the train itself and hijack it, sending it back to our port instead. You lot are going to escort the transports to the train, and once the troops have boarded it, ensure it can get back to friendly lines. Expect air resistance trying to stop the transports and ground elements firing on the train once it's captured."

Uhm not fair they can't have pods because we have them uhm sir i joined because of the pods UHM UHM COUGH.

I gear up and get in my Hornet. "Alright, I hope all of that maintenance work pays off." I do the usual preflight checks as the ordinance is being loaded onto my plane.

Where are the transports taking off from / which nation is operating them?

also i'm going to go to bed in like 20 minutes

I run over to the hangar and hop in my A-10. I do weapon checks, everything checks out. I turn on the comms and say, "Check, 1-3. Check, 1-3." I haven't moved yet, because I'm awaiting further orders.

By the time I make it to the MiG, the hanger doors are rolling open and the engines are screaming.

I hop into the MiG as the ground crew pull that last safeties off the weapons. The crew chief hands me the loadout list.

"Mjolnir 1-2, Tower, request taxi route,"

"Tower Mjolnir 1-2 taxi to runway 9 via taxiway bravo,"

I begin rolling out of the hanger, and wait on the hot pavement of Runway 9 for the others to form up for takeoff.

Obrad hops into his A-10, starting his engines up and taxiing out, flying to the rest of the group (or behind them). He goes on Comms.
"Alright. Here is the plan. All of those not in A2G planes, I want you to fly ahead and shoot down/stall any aerial planes. Meanwhile, any A2G elements will fire and support the paratroopers. Are we clear?"

I'm greeted by the ground crew as I arrive at the hangar. After inspecting the pylons, I quickly hop into the Mirage 2000C and run through the checklist. The engines spool up, and I contact the tower.

"Tower, Mjolnir 1-9, requesting taxi to active runway for takeoff."

"Mjolnir 1-9, Tower, taxi to runway 09 via taxiway D B."

As I roll out of the hangar, the captain makes an announcement over the radio.

"1-5, 1-9, crystal clear."

I fall in behind the others on the runway in preparation for the minimum interval takeoff.

"Relax, Cowboy. We aren't command up here, we use nicknames."

"... Right."

... Dammit. I instinctively turn my head around to check if anyone's looking before quietly flipping through the pages on my kneeboard.

"I'm in the air, the controls are a bit more responsive than what I used last time." I maneuver into formation behind Condor. "They'll probably scramble a tougher response than just a few MiG-21s, so we won't be able to get them all, I hope you're packing air-to-air missiles."

I look at my loadout. I have an ECM pod slung under the fuselage, four R-77's and two R-73's.

"Hey Captain, we really need to assign wingmen."

"Mjolnir 1-2 clear for takeoff,"

"Copy clear for takeoff,"

The aircraft shutters and screams as it rolls forward. It pulls up easily and I begin go-arounds of the base in wait for the rest of my squadron mates.

"Wait, is Captain Obrad with us? I didn't see him."
