At this point you should just realise "Scary games don't work on me" and move on with your life.
What life?

>FEAR

confirmed for not scary. It's once again super predictable. Whenever a SPOOKY GHOST LOOK OUT scene is coming, your gui flashes and the lights dim.
fear is a loving awesome first person shooter though. the AI is smart and awesome and you can kung fu them to death. awesome.

When I was younger, the Phazon Mines in Metroid Prime really freaked me out

Technically couldn't darksouls be considered a "horror" game, because you have the constant fear of death around every corner? You have the fear of accidentally taking a wrong turn and end up in a grave yard filled with skeletons that kill you in 2 hits 15 minutes into the game?

nope. not scary. just hard.

Games are really loving terrifying when you get to control a giant robot.

The scary part is never created by the monsters or the events. It's all audio and visual cues, and making a science of creating an unsettling atmosphere where anything would make you poop your pants and throw off your headphones.

If you were walking down a long hallway in the same general atmosphere as Amnesia and then a goofy looking jack-in-a-box thing walked at you, you'd probably be no less scared than if it was one of those grunt things. Amnesia was really good at making a scary environment, not scaring you with events. Jumpscares aren't really scary by themselves, they have to be in the right context. Otherwise, the most they'll do is make you go "woah didn't expect that lol", and maybe startle you for a second.

So on the subject line, most likely the latter, but probably a bit of the former as well. It's probably mostly just that you're not letting yourself get engaged enough so the horror gets to you, which is a fair enough mental strategy.

honestly, if you're not real phased by amnesia, you might be just one of those guys who doesn't get scared by videogames. There's a certain level of anxiety you have to have that you can immerse yourself in a virtual experience and feel real fear, but a lot of people aren't nervous enough to have that connection because subconsciously they know it's not real.

I wish there was a dark, scary, open-world MMO ._.

I can't play scary games or anything like that. bc I'm just like. "I think something scary is gonna be beyond that door, so I'm not gonna open it"
and then I don't get past the first scary situation

I like watching them okay, though. but I prefer just creepy, to scary
like, Gone Home is a great example

Most games achieve their "Scary" atmosphere by the player being so lonely.

Anyway, I'd recommend SCP Containment Breach.

It's startling, unsettling, and makes you feel like your forgeted no matter what.

But not really that scary in the long run, but still pretty damn fun.

The SCP game is a joke, I can't get past how bad it looks.
