Author Topic: Why don't we have a food that includes all vitamins we need?  (Read 5887 times)

instead of saying there is so many examples, at least post one or two
I already did, in my first post. I understand it was long though, any many people probably didn't want to read it fully.

do you have links or sources for them?

I already said my only source is the documentary and that I'd try to find the name.

Which would have two implications.

The first is that if you're going to put the powder on the food to make it the only thing you need to eat then why not exclusively eat the food that you like most/the cheapest food/ the easiest food to eat?
The second is that if you decide to eat different foods just to keep the variety but you're still gonna put the protein powder on the food that you eat then why bother with the powder if you're eating all the different foods you'd need to eat to get the nutrients in the powder anyway?

One eliminates the need for variety, the other one renders the all-in-one powder/food completely pointless, take your pick.
I think we're looking at this from completely different views
I'm looking at this as a way to provide nutrition to impoverished areas that don't have access to this variety, I'm assuming you're thinking of this as a replacement to food in developed areas.
But if used in developed areas, people would more likely use it in the first way

You're acting like humanity would break down if people only ate foods they liked. I actually look at that as a benefit of something like a nutrient powder you'd put on your food. You get to select your meal based on tastes instead of nutrient value. If you get sick of eating Mac N Cheese every day, then move to a new food. Take variety as you want it. If you're eating all the different food groups anyway, then you may as well skip the nutrient powder. But if you're going to McDonalds for a burger and fries, you'll probably want some of that magic life powder.

I still feel that this "magic life powder's" purpose is completely invalidated when you eat fried/fatty foods because it's not like the unhealthiness of it goes away. Just eliminate processed foods and other garbage from your diet and there's really no need for bullstuff like that. I guess its only purpose would be for people who can't actually afford healthy foods.

I hate to say it, but this is a pretty poor argument. If you seriously expect me to fill up the character limit with examples, you're dead wrong. They're examples for a reason.

Also, a diet change could have the same effects, considering that's where many vitamins come from. Freeing yourself from cancer that way would take waaaaaay longer, if it even worked at all.

The best I can do is tell you the name of the documentary I watched. Of course, people will only use this as fuel for the fire... :/
If your example was a somewhat large study that I could look over myself, I would have far less of an issue.

but the powder would have to be tweaked for each specific food to make it equal perfect nutrition

and everyone has different recipes and different methods of preparation

hell there's even slight "quality control" to worry about

It doesn't reverse the unhealthiness of the fried/fatty food, but it does improve the vitamin content. Also, I'd rather die of a stroke from high cholesterol than eliminate 'processed foods and other garbage' from my diet.

Nobody worries about getting their vitamin dosage just right. When you look at the multivitamin shelves at a store, you don't see "Specially formulated for McDonalds!" written on them.

someone needs to do a serious study on this energy powder smoothie thingy majic and see what it actually does. people use it during extreme workouts to supplement their body immediately rather than eating normally and having to go through the process of long digestion. im not sure if it does what people say it does or if its completely useless unless youre working out. it could all be placebo.

Why not just make - wait for it - a normal smoothie? Maybe the issue is that people think smoothie, and they think juice, yogurt, and a few strawberries and a half a banana. Well, in my book, that's not a smoothie. IMO, a proper smoothie should have:

Kale
Spinach
Strawberries
Bananas
Blueberries
Mango
Pineapple

...Plus more. The only downside is that there's a bunch of sugar in there too.

I gagged reading that list of ingredients. Like, actually gagged.

Why?

You don't need to eliminate them entirely to be healthy, you just can't eat them continuously

A smoothie with a little bit of fruit, yogurt, added sugar and some ice is a good cold treat along the lines of (a slightly less unhealthy) ice cream to me. But a with just pure fruit with little added ingredients is amazing

Take the kale and spinach out and it sounds pretty good. Maybe a little odd with all those contrasting fruits together, but not bad.
I'd rather have the kale and spinach separately as a salad, rather than pureed

isnt there something about getting diarrhea when mixing random foods together?
