Author Topic: I am having my first job next week.  (Read 1462 times)

I enjoyed my first job for the first couple days, been at it for 6 months now and I am no longer having fun, i'll say that much.

Congratulations on the job! Even if it's a nuisance to do you'll still be happy to be working! Having a bit of money in your pocket is properly addictive. I got my first job last winter as a temp job at a local supermarket, and I miss not working now. It was nice having the money roll in.

It was also pretty cool that I was above the minimum wage for an 18 year old at the time, at £6.71 an hour, 12 hours a week.

im gonna try and get my first job at campgrounds upstate where they put you up in an employee cabin

this is what the area looks like:

Anyway I finally started my first job on Monday, and to tell you the truth: this job is horrible. I hate the work we do, and the people I work with are these extremely poor delinquents and they constantly poke fun at me because I am the only white kid working there, and not to mention it's in an all Puerto Rican neighborhood. All the people I work with are 19-21 and most already have at least 2 babies. They think of me as a scrawny white boy. I would never wanna do any custodial work ever again in my life. I realized, that when I am older I wanna do something that requires thinking -- because being a custodian or something within the hard labor sector only requires muscle really. I won't quit though, I will keep working until the 6 weeks of this summer job is over, and thus get my full pay (900-1000). It's worth it for a first job, and I think I have realized the importance of working. I wanna work from the bottom up, and hopefully become a successful guy one day. I also think that I may want to go into veterinary medicine too. Also I've realized too that there will always be jobs we have to do which we may not enjoy.

Anyway end of my rant.
