Someone could kill your parents. They could go on trial and get off free. The second afterward, they could release a video of them killing your parents. They could not be tried again. You could not pee in their car.

I'm not saying I agree with the whole. an eye for an eye thing. even when it comes to racism. like, everyone who hates gay people is straight, but I've never felt the need or desire to get revenge by being mean to a straight person because they were straight

I'm glad you actually brought up the eye-for-an-eye thing, because "an eye for an eye will make the whole world blind" came to mind. However I partially disagree with the whole "revenge is still a form of justice." Yes, it is. However it's "justice" in its basest, most animal form. Revenge is an ugly form of justice, and you'd think that a group pushing for "equality" would be above social revenge.

I support the death penalty.
Thing is it's obviously far cheaper to just kill someone than support them for a lifetime.
It's the appeals and bureaucratic stuff that racks up the bills.

I actually don't support the death penalty because it's a permanent solution for a not-so-permanent problem. Lots of innocent people have been put to the chair and been proven innocent posthumously. Cheaper, yes. Moral, well that's not really an argument for right now.

I don't understand. A tumblr-esque debate would be a sane person talking to a bunch of (self-diagnosed, probably) insane people. These are actually reasonable opinions for the most part now that Face is asleep.

Justice is about holding everyone and everything to the same laws. It's about a set of rules that must be followed. It's about taking the people who do the wrong thing, and forcing them to stop. It's about taking any situation, looking at it with a precise tool, and evaluating what must be done. The only place in which morality is involved is in the creation of the law, not the execution of the law. It's about people getting away with crimes because of a technicality, because to bend the law is to destroy the foundation of justice.

The law is about the rules. People can find vengeance and retribution inside the rules, but that's the people; not justice; not the law.
