actually wouldn't black people be excluded too because, black and white?
hm

actually if we're going by the subtractive color spectrum then black is all the colors ever mixed together whereas white is the absence of color
but if it's additive, then it's the other way around, with white being all the colors mixed and black being the absence of color
so "poc" is tribal against black and white people just not against both at the same time

have i earned my tumblr badge of overbrown townysis yet

"politically correct" way of saying colored people
uh. no? it's a shortened way of saying "colored people"
bc for obvious reasons you can't just say "cp" so naturally you choose a different phrase to shorten that means the same thing

The subtractive spectrum sucks. Who the forget wants to mix magenta cyan or yellow when you can mix blue red or green?

"person of color" is what poc means and it is apparently less offensive than "colored people"

this is the first time I've ever heard anyone say that

this is the first time I've ever heard anyone say that
that's why its "poc"
because it means person of color

although i see it more commonly as "PoC"

lol once i had a really liberal english teacher and someone said "colored person" so she made a twenty minute lecture on why you shouldn't say that.

yes I know what poc stands for
I've never heard anyone claim that it's less offensive than "colored people" (until now)

was she suggesting "person of color" as the alternative? cus that doesn't make any sense. it's the same thing

oh well i mean that seems to be the reasoning for it. i've heard people dont like "colored people" so i assume that they chose "person of color" for that reason

PoC apply to brown people and the lighter asian people.
Basically everyone who isn't white.

It even sounds less offensive than saying "colored people"

and PoC prefer to call themselves PoC so it's not offensive to them

yeah she was. it was really dumb.

PoC is kind of a dumb term because it lumps together everyone that's not white and is sort of tribal in and of itself. Generalizing every non-white race? Jeez.
